Good for the price Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: good price for PoE switch. Adheres to 802.1Q VLAN which is great for VoIP phones. Supports 802.1p CoS priority.
Cons: only 12 of the 24 ports are PoE. Switch does not recognize layer3 DSCP values set by most VoIP phones.
Other Thoughts: In order to get adequate VoIP QoS using this switch you must put your phones in a seperate VLAN and have them utilize 802.1p tags....

Solid product and a good value. The unit is solidly built(steel enclosure), and works flawlessly like all my other Netgear switches. It's perfect for applications that need PoE to power Wireless access points, or for my purpose of powering and connecting a bunch of IP security cameras. A nice surprise was the price for this unit as it's much less than other PoE switches I looked into. In addition, having the two Gigabit connections were perfect for connecting it into my Gigabit backbone, and continuing the chain. I've yet ...

What a deal! I purchased two for our new Voice over IP phone system and I works great! Took it straight out of the box, plugged it in and it's been working like a charm. No configuration, just plug and play. Please keep in mind that only 12 of the 24 ports are POE ports. We saved $2,000 by purchasing this product over a simular Nortel switch.

Simple, yet powerful This piece of equipment is not only a reliable 24 port switch, it is almost a router. It provides QOS, DHCP, and many other functions routers provide. In addition, it gives you 12 ports of POE, which is probably as many as you would use in most applications. The management interface is very powerful, yet simple. For the price, nothing in the market touches it. Great job NetGear! I use mine for seven PCs and 12 VoIP phones with no problems. Highly recommended.

Good price and performance Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: The most economical switch with POE on the market. Set and leave, I never have to worry about rebooting it or it burning out. I use them for access points in hotels and never had a problem yet, i more than 12 of them. I needed I could standardize too and grow it if need be. The unit can turn off POE to individual ports which is great for shutting down a sect...

Great Value on PoE Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: Excellent price for capabilities and PoE. Best value I could find on a product with 24 ports and PoE (12 are PoE). Runs like a champ, never a shut-down or problem. Very capable web based GUI allows you to control PoE and everything with ease and virtually no technical knowledge.
Cons: Only has one cooling fan (but does not overheat). Wo...

Great Product, awesome price Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: Great price, great features (QoS,PoE)
Cons: only 12 ports are PoE
Other Thoughts: in response to EEMAN, the swtich also supports DSCP and ToS so you do NOT need to use VLANS. I know Polycom IP phones support TOS/DSCP and CoS.

. Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: Rock solid. Does exactly what it is supposed to do.
Cons: not gigabit
Other Thoughts: I run this to power my phones. Never a problem. The Ipod touch rebate was the icing on the cake. I would fill my whole rack with these.

Missing feature for the price Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Power over ethernet (if you use it). Rack moutable. Easy setup.
Cons: For an extra $60 you could buy a 48 port switch with 2 extra gig ports AND comes with 802.1X for port security.
Other Thoughts: Not a very secure interface. I ran Nessus against it and found a few vulnerabilities. I notified Netgear about the issues, but they have yet to release a new firmware...

Needs fine-tuning in large environment Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Cheap, has 15W per port PoE. It has QoS management that helps in VOIP environment.
Cons: Default firmware is not good. You have to upgrade to 32 version. The fan is very loud. Default settings doesn't work for me, I had disconnect issues and strange network latency.
Other Thoughts: I had it working for couple of month without any problem...until I moved company to...
