This costs more than the switch it goes into!
 
yep, that's right. this costs more than the switch it is designed to go into, but it works and compared to something like a Cisco package with similiar features, it's still a bargain.

Good bang for the buck
 
There are many GBICs out there and many manufacturers "recommend" that you buy theirs (Cisco GBIC for a Cisco switch, etc).

We've had no problem in using the NetGears we've purchased for multiple kinds of switches.

For the price, they can't be beat.

I just wanted to state that if you are ordering this for a hp procurve, it will not work. HP has modified their firmware to reject any non-hp branded gbics. Lets hope that they don't start denying non-hp patch cords and computers next.
