Its great, but has a number of problems Although, this is a great deal: easy to setup, easy to install, easy to reset, etc., it does contain many problems.
One problem is that it heats up to quickly, mainly because its through USB, and USB travels really quick, especially if you are running a USB 2.0 port instead of 1.1 port.
Another main problem is that it doesn't function well unless you have a netgear router. I got a new router when I renewed my Verizon contract, and decided to get this so I could network...

Works for 10 days then quits My experience, with several repetitions: The adapter, continuously plugged in, continuously on, works for about 10 days, then stops working and drops the connection. It won't restart. The only way to recover is to unplug it, plug in your spare (you do have a spare, of course), and let the Netgear WG111T cool off for a couple of days. Then you plug it in again, and it works for about 10 days...

Absolutely horrendous product! Let me tell you, this Netgear USB wireless adapter has to be one of the worst computer products I've ever bought. First, unless you're right on top of the wireless access point, you won't get a decent signal strength. The connection client that comes with this device is mediocre at best: it won't even allow you to connect to an access point with its SSID turned off. Then if you want Windows to handle the connections for you, the connection client (unless you un-install it) will keep trying to ta...

No WPA (wifi Protected Access) Tech Level: Ownership:
Comments: It has the old WEP security standard. My 10 year old can break into any WEP secured network. This product is obsolete. Therefore way overpriced. This item should be clearance at $xx. Netgear hasn't worked on a new driver to upgrade to the WPA security standard by now. This means that it is old stuff by WiFi standards. Trust me. Research my point and find me correct. :) Stay away from this.Generally you pay for what ...

It's junk. Read the forums on the neatgear site. It will work until you push it. So for example if you try copying files from one PC to another. It drops it's connection and you have to unplug it from the USB and reconnect it. Then it will work until next time it encounters a lot of demand for bandwidth. I've tried EVERY possible firmware and software update and configuration...it's just a poor design. Check the netgear discussion forums...everyone is having this problem and there is no solution. The unit also overheats. Thi...

easy simple solution I've had this adapter on my son's desktop for over 6 months. I wanted an easily removable adapter, so I could remove it if internet interfered with homework. The install was fine; I always find it easiest to install updated drivers from the website rather than the install disc. they are always outdated. So I downloaded the drivers onto a jump drive on my pc, then installed them onto his pc. Attached the usb adapter and set windows zero config to run the wireless and it has worked flawlessly ever...

Always on. No drops. I'm amazed at how much the WG511T and the WG111T are so night and day from each other. Where the WG511T doesn't work with Windows XP and laptop computers (yeah, I know. Hard to believe) the WG111T works right away and doesn't let up even when it does heat up like other USB WiFi dongles. It's even better than my old Linksys WUSB12 which just stopped working after a while (got so mad at it I opened it up and snapped the board in half. So much for any type of warranty if it was still in effect). [Netgear WG111T 108Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter review can be read at Amazon.com] | | Amazon.com Rating: 10.0 |

Has Some Quirks But Works... This adapter was tested on two PCs - A Compaq Evo N610c (work-issued) and a Compaq SR1230NX (home), where both run XPSP2, and so far the following issues have come to light:
1) Full 108Mbps performance is possible only when I set my router (Netgear WGT624) to "108Mbps only" which precludes using other adapters. Auto-sensing the router drops the connection to 54Mbps tops. Since most of my traffic goes to the Internet through a cable modem, full 108 is not yet a necessity. Those who h...

Great with Netgear routers but not other makes.. The WG111T works great with Netgear products. I have had this product for more than 2 years now and in my opinion its great if used ONLY with a Netgear router -> especially a Rangemax. The router in my house is on the top floor and i'm in the basemant but I still get a 66% signal. But thats damn good compared to when I tried it with a Linksys and Belkin, both of them only gave me a 0-15% max and that was when I was only 25ft away. Buy only if you intend it use it with a Netgear router, and i...

. Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Works with WPA, supports 108Mbps, which in real world is like 15-20Mbps.
Cons: none.
Other Thoughts: newest drivers support WPA. I'm using it with WPA now, and it works just fine. Don't type a review until you've used the product. I use this exact model purchased from New Egg. WG111T. The T is the 108 version, the WG111 is the plain 54Mb version. ...
