Glorious This is by far the coolest portable video player or MP3 player I've owned, which is saying something because I always want the latest & greatest.
After using an iPod (some version or another) for the past several years, I would worried that I'd have to tinker too much to get this to work. As a busy working professional, I didn't want to have to fiddle too much with the device - just wanted it to be plug and play.

STAY AWAY!!!!! Two Defective Units In A Row!!! I'd heard that Archos tends to ship a large number of defective units and has terrible customer service, so (fortunately) ordered through Amazon for the added protection. Received my first unit early in November and immediately plugged it in to charge. 24 hours later it did not indicate a full charge but I tried to turn it on anyway. Great Product, awful service The Archos 605 is a great product, with a clean, crisp 4.3 inch screen. However, after owning one myself, i returned it due to its compatibility issues, and the web browser. I advise against getting this product if you own a Mac, because the steps necessary to get the Archos up and running are extremely time consuming and pricey. Also, the web browser is extremely sluggish compared to Safari on the Ipod Touch. If you can deal with both of those issues, then you reach the customer service problem...

Excellent Tech I have been watching Archos products for a while. While the Ipod is the mass favorite my requirements were for a device that did not require transcoding of video material to another format. I just wanted a device that I could connect via Wi-Fi or USB to my computer and copy movies and music. This device does just that.
Another very important feature is the superior resolution on the new Generation 5 Archos products. The video clarity blows the competition away.
