Poor video quality I own a DMR-ES25 Panasonic recorder and wanted a player with DVD-RAM capabilities. However when I hooked this up to my 1080p LCD TV through HDMI, I noticed that the resulting picture was noisy and much worse than the 1080i upconversion coming from my old Panasonic's HDMI output. Good for playing store bought DVDs I'm a technological semi-geek. I can get most things to work. But so far, this machine is not as easy to use as I thought it would be. It plays store bought DVDs, mp3s and audio CDs well. The upconverting creates a modestly better picture with its HDMI out than my ancient former DVD player (10 years old) did when I played it through its S-Video out. Plays my PAL DVD's in black and white Tech Level: somewhat high
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Seems to handle the mpeg4's well (but won't play .srt subs). I've used several brands of +-R/W (Verbatim, Ritek, TY, Memorex) with no problems.
Cons: I can't get PAL DVDs to play in color. I emailed their technical support, hopefully I'll get a reply.

HDMI not working properly First there was no manual in the box. Not sure if it was suppose to have one but I didnt get one.brbrAfter I hooked up the DVD player to my Samsung 61 DLP TV I was getting a wonderful picture from the DVD player in 1080i mode. A couple of days later no signal would come from the HDMI. I tried several different cables and nothing. My DirectTV HD box worked perfectly but the DVD player just wouldnt do anything.
