Both Drives Failed I bought two of these drives to use for backup and as a network drive. I liked them because they were small and USB powered. I could put two of them in a RAID array and take up less space than my old drive.

stay away this is the second simpletech portable drive i have purchased. both have been horrible and had the same problem. while it usually always mounts on the desktop it seems to have a problem mounting with any reasonable amount of "speed." i have to unplug it and plug it back in multiple times before it works correctly.
for instance, when copying files the same file will either report to take 12+ hours (bad) or 20 minutes (good). it's like the drive goes from 5400 RPM to 54 RPM. again this...

Failure to Mount The price was too good to resist. Great look, light weight. Well, buyer beware. I plugged it in, the power light lit up, but the unit never mounted on my Intel Mac. I swapped the cable with a Simpletech 80GB unit I bought a while back, it mounted fine. However I need a working cable for the road! Thinking the cable was faulty, I returned and exchanged it. Very Handy. I was wishing 500 GB but is matter of time Same Pininfarina design but the difference is that this one has a non slip surface, does not have the pininfarina signature, but, hell its just the same , well not the red ferrari color. But unlike his pininfarina predecessor this model is more scratch resistant.
NOTE: Never use a cable different then provided. Do not use 5volt source and cable source simultaneously. The disc is portable its handy but still fragile.
