Linksys Cable Modem I purchased this modem to replace the modem (Motorola Surfboard) I received with my Comcast account for two reasons. First, to save money over the long run. Secondly, because I have had very good experience with Linksys products and it was a perfect match for my Linksys WRT54G wireless router. Easy as 1,2,3. This is a fantastic cable modem. It replaced a very old Toshiba I had been using but had been having issues with. I noticed an increase in speed after going through the install this is probably due to using a docsis 2.0 modem compared to my old one that was probably docsis 1.0.
My only stumbling block was working with the tech support guy at Cox. He wasn't the quickest guy and wouldn't listen to my own knowledge but after getting him to do his portion I was fine to set out on my own....

Works great even with Win98! I installed this modem about a month ago, and so far it is working great! Installation of the modem itself was a breeze. I have an old machine running Win98 that was on a dial-up before, and I installed an ethernet card for better performance for cable over USB. Instructions included with it won't tell you how to re-configure your network settings and browser to talk thru the ethernet port though, but then again, that is not Linksys's problem.
