As they say, you get what you pay for... With so many "value" external hard drives out there, it is tempting to save a few bucks. This is worth the investment. It is very quiet, super fast, and sleek looking. The triple interface is key, making it universally applicable.
Food for thought - the short squat design is sturdy and impossible to tip over. I just had a friend lose everything when his cat knocked his upright designed external hard drive off his desk.

So far So good I bought 4 of these to replace my collection of LaCie drives. 3 out of 6 LaCie drives failed me within 4 months! costing me hundreds of dollars, countless hours of wasted time, and many sleepless nights. I've only heard good things about this drive so i'll be sure and let you know if it fails.

Like My Own Robotic Assistant Wow, there is a video option to write this review. I wonder what that is all about. Sounds too complicated.
This drive is awesome. It's built rock solid and looks nice and hip. It is super quiet and only makes a soft low hum. The drive surprisingly doesn't click at all when writing or reading files (very impressive). Most drives will make the clicking or grinding sound, this one doesn't. This drive is very reliable. One Year Later and It's Still Rock Solid I purchased this drive in September of 2007 in anticipation of the release of MAC OSX 10.5 Leopard. I have been using it as a "Time Machine" backup drive for OSX on my iMac 24". It's worked flawlessly for almost a year now. Time Machine writes to the drive every hour with backup information and it has performed great. It is pretty quite as far as hard drives go since it is fan-less. It does click and you can hear the spin up of the drive as it comes out of low power state, but it's not that loud...
