For the money, this is the ONLY option! I did not purchase my G0 Q6600 from Amazon. Back in late October, 2007 the G0's were scarce, so I went with a vendor who guaranteed that I would get one (versus the distinct possibility of getting the older "B3" version of the processor with most other vendors, including Amazon).
For the uninitiated, the usefulness of a quad-core CPU versus the more ubiquitous (and less expensive) dual-core version is dubious for most desktop users. Most applications are not multi-threaded and therefo...

Quad is In Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: This CPU was made to multitask at an insane level. After reading all the othe reviews I'm sure you knew that already. I received a GO revision. This CPU stays as cool as my E6600. I put it with an Asus artic square and my temps are 32C idle and 40C under full load overclocked to 2.8GHz.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: A...

Great power for the money Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Strong power right from the box, very strong knowledge base out there for overclocking, runs pretty cool with a Zalman 9500.
Cons: The anxiety of getting either a GO or B3 stepping processor...
Other Thoughts: ...And I got the GO stepping model so the anxiety was worth it. Still reading up on how to overclock...

Nothing short of amazing Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: After updating the BIOS on my motherboard (Gigabyte P35-ds3l) I was able to get this thing up to a modest 3.0GHz @ 1.15V with idle temperatures around 32C on a Freezer 7 Pro. On full load it barely manages to scrape 40C. I might OC further, but this thing's fast enough that there's no need.
I've been an AMD guy for years, but I final...

Fast, Unstoppable and Cool Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I had read many reviews complaining about the B3 vs. G0 steppings and just how "awful-hot" the B3s were getting. I purchased my quad from Newegg and received a B3...after using this CPU, I simply don't understand people's complaints. My B3, overclocked to 3.0GHz, runs at 28C idle and 41C under full load. This processor is a beast and will...

Excellent Service, Great CPU Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: I had ordered a Q6600 from Newegg on the day that Intel did the official price cut that rumors persists would happened on 7/22. Newegg was very quick and provided excellent service as usual. I got an E3 instead of a G0. It is no big deal in grand scheme of things. The only problem with B3s they are a bit warmer and there are problems with one of their thermal ...

Solid Performance for Price Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: 4 cores brings you to a whole new level of multi-tasking.
Came from an AMD 3400+ to this and a video that once took me just under 8 minutes to render took ~45 seconds with this chip!
Gaming is more then adequate. When paired with a game that makes use of multiple cores, Oblivion and WoW being two I play often, it shows where the future...

Received G0 / SLACR Tech Level: high Ownership: less than 1 day This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Received a G0 stepping/SLACR from CA warehouse; order placed Nov 14/07.
Runs very cool at stock settings with factory heat sink.
Cons: Biggest hurdle with this processor was the Intel heatsink fastening system, which IMO requires way too much force to get the last connector to snap in place. I did it with the motherboard out...
