Does the job, and looks good too. Sonnet's USB solution is a generic 32-bit PCI card that utilizes the NEC chipset, which seems to be a little more stable than some of the other manufacturers out there. Windows recognizes the card right away and has it installed and running in a matter of seconds. 4 USB ports external and one internal. The only thing that would have made this card perfect would be to have a header instead of a "A" jack for the internal connection.
If you're looking for a USB card with a the NEC chipse...

Great way to add USB I bought this card to add more USB ports to a Mac G4 AGP (Sawtooth).
The two USB ports just aren't enough when you're running Pro Tools and add-ons like a Frontier AlphaTrack, which will not work off a hub -- it needs a dedicated port.
The Allegro does the job perfectly and at a price that's comparable with a powered hub.

Works great in my G4 Installed in a G4 1 gig. Basically bought it to increase tranfer speeds to my iPod -- no issues whatsoever, including sleep mode.

2nd time's the charm? I purchased this card for my G4 Dual 800 Quicksilver (2001). I had bought a generic usb 2.0 card at Best Buy that would seem to be working fine but then lock up once the device I had plugged into it was pulled out. The Sonnet Allegro card did the same thing the first time I tried it and I was ready to return it when I switched PCI slots, on a whim. Now it works perfectly. I have a feeling the problem is with my computer and not the card itself. If you are having problems with add-on PCI cards, I...

You can expect excellent results Purchased 2, then installed into rev.1 G3 B/W macs. Amazing these machines run so well being almost 10 years old. Camera, Scanner and Printer response is in seconds not moments. A must have item for your older Mac. I couldn't be happier with Sonnett or Amazon.

This is how hardware upgrades for a Mac should be I got Sonnet Usb 2 pci card. I shutdown my mac, open the case, removed one of the blank plates, installed the card into the pci slot, screwed it in, shut the case to my Mac and turned it on. That was it, it took me all of two minutes to do and it worked, no drivers, no fireware no nothing, it just worked. Highly recommended to anyone who wants Usb 2 on their Mac.

Couldn't be easier to use. Great for Macs! This product couldn't be easier to use. I installed it in my PowerMac G5 tower in less than 2 minutes. Just plug it in and it works. Mac OS X already has drivers built-in so there's no software to install. You get four extra USB 2.0 ports instantly! No hassles with USB hubs and extra cords!
One note, the shipping product is considerably smaller than the item pictured. The purple circuit board size has been reduced dramatically to just a 1/2" strip at the bottom of the card. Doesn...

Oh, thank goodness! Anyone else out there with a G5 tower that has all but given up finding useful expansion cards to fit your PCI-X slots?
I've been looking for something that would work in my Dual 1.8 G5 tower for a long time. Several months ago I stumbled across Sonnet's website. I bookmarked it and forgot it.
There's really a limit to how useful daisy-chaining USB hubs is, and I passed that threshold ages ago. I finally started looking again, and before long I finally found my own bookma...

Works as advertised I received the card quickly. It went into my open computer slot with ease and worked right away. Truly was a plug and play item as advertised.
