Amazing TV Great Price The PQ is top notch only the pioneer i thought was better but you have to pay a lot more for little gain. HD looks outstanding and bonus is that the SD looks good too. Excellent Recently purchased this TV from Amazon (delivered through Eagle) and I am extremely impressed thus far. I'll start with the cons:

Amazing TV no problems HDMI PERFECT!!! The picture quality is amazing, before you consider buying a 1080p TV research the web and look for articles that compare the two resolutions. You will find that there is almost no difference between a 1080i and 1080p especially for watching movies even with blue ray DVD.
As for HDMI, the quality is noticeably better especially with my $80 Toshiba upconverting DVD player. It's simply amazing. DO NOT spend more then $15 for HDMI cables. Realize that digital signals are more resistance...

Great Plasma for Gaming and Movies I bought this TV to use with the xbox 360 and the PS3.
The quality on the picture was outstanding for the game consoles.(component connection) I was worried about screen burn in since it is a plasma but I have had no problems so far with long gaming sessions.
Movie playback with HD-DVD, Blu-ray, and HI-Def downloads are great. The number of connections you have and different connections is pretty good.
For the PC connection the colors are a little oversaturate...

samsung 5054-great picture but poor HDMI The samsung 5054 is great to look at and the picture is excellent at 720p. You would be hard pressed to discern a difference over the 1080p HDTV's. But, the HDMI input suffers from random audio drop off. Samsung offers no explanation, other than to blame the Cable box or the HDMI cables. You are watching a program and suddenly, no audio. You must turn the TV off and the sound does come back. Samsung says to bypass the HDMI and use the component inputs.Sort of like saying, just use the low speed ...

Same problem as others Random Audio drop out from HDMI I just received this tv last month, Oct. 2007, and I'm having the same trouble with audio randomly dropping out of the HDMI inputs. I've tested to see if it's the cable box or the PS3, but it does it with both. I've also tested different cables and it still does it. The problem is with the TV. I'm in the process now of figuring out how to get this fixed. Be aware, you may not want to deal with this problem that a lot of these tv's have apparently from the other reviews I've read recently.

Burn Ins and dead pixels As much as I would like to dissapoint the folks who have posted favorable reviews; I have had a horrible experience with this TV.
I bought from Frys with extended warranty; without any exaggeration: was exteremly careful with burn ins: didnt pause for long, no news channels, no rolling tickers.
I bought this on July 4th and in 3 months it developed horrible burn ins, despite the fact that I used an HD reciever. On top of that it got dead pixels: yes, no kidding dead pixels ...

Read this before you want to buy Samsung's TV I bought my first Samsung HP-S5053 50" plasma TV back in December 2006 from Circuit City.

DO NOT BUY!!! GET A PANASONIC!!! I had this Samsung for 10 days and the power source went out on it. Called Samsung, told me to contact local tech, they in turn said it would be 10 days til they would get to me and then they would have to order the part and would take several more days. I wasn't going to except this so I contacted Amazon and they sent me a new one in exchange (kudos to Amazon in there customer service dept.). I had this TV for 30 days and went to turn it on, and guess what, the exact same thing happened to this...
