Well worth the extra money Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Highest clocked Windsor available at a comfortable price, and the highest clocked Windsor that doesn't have a TDP of 125W (that's the 6000+). Furthermore, at 2.8GHz the 5600+ has an even clock divider so the RAM runs at full DDR2-800 (6000 and 5200 don't).
Cons: AMD cheaped out on the heatsink. Just your gene...

Just what I was hoping for. Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Registers a 5.3 on the Vista Windows Experience Index.
Achieves 2090 on the CPU benchmark in 3DMArk06.
With a Zalman 9500, this runs idle at 33C(91F) and under heavy dual core load of 100%, it was running at 39C(102F)
1Meg of L2 cache
Cons: Was hoping for a better Vista score, but I'm sure Quad-cores will hit the mark. I upped this ...

New price/performance leader for AMD versus Intel An AMD Athlon X2 processor is a good idea for a system builder, because it offers two cores using a 64-bit architecture. A comparable CPU type might be the Intel Core 2 Duo processors, which are also two cores using a 64-bit architecture. Just recently, AMD price cuts have brought the costs of the AMD Athlon X2 5600+ CPUs under comparable Intel Core2 Duo E6400 CPUs. Even better, the AMD processor outperforms the Intel processor.
A quick perusal of the CPU charts at Tom's Hardware s...

AMD Rules!! Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Popped right into my Foxconn C51 590 SLI and works like a beast. With my 8800GTS I run any game or any program without a single hiccup! Run HL2 at max settings, 16x AA, 16x Filtering and still pull 140+FPS. So fast that my brand new LCD cant even keep up with the frames and I get frame tearing!! (LCD's are 60hz at max res). L2 2x...

From opteron to X2 Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Great CPU, really fast. Getting this performance level of CPU for this kind of price(well under 200) is nothing short of a miracle. C2D's have faster but are WAY more expensive, and arent even that much faster. I put this in to replace my opteron 1212 and there is a very noticable difference. The opteron was fine but i wanna build an at home...

great chip so far Tech Level: high Ownership: less than 1 day
Pros: great chip overclocked to 3.0 stable, stock cooling, idles @ 32 C upgraded from a 4600 and there is a SERIOUSLY NOTICABLE difference
Cons: none so far, only had it for a day but hey...oh yeah, if i had to gripe about SOMETHING, on the new X2 heatsinks they have a non-holographic sticker where-as on the regular athlon 64's they have holographic stickers...but that is my only complain...

Great upgrade from Athlon 3200+ Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Upgraded from a 3200+ and what a difference. I went from an Abit NF7-S v2 with one gig memory to an ASUS M2N deluxe and 2 gig memory and must admit multitasking is much improved. Overclocked easily to 3.0 ghz. Excellent price. Temp never gone over 41 C no matter what. I do have a well fanned case though.
Cons: not free

Low-power version of FX-62 Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: 5600+ is the low-power version of the legendary FX-62. They have the exact same performance (check tomshardware CPU chart), but 5600+ only has 89W of TDP, compared to FX-62's 125W, thus it runs significantly cooler than FX-62. Plus, 5600+ is also cheaper.
Note: TDP is the maximum power a processor CONSUMES at a give clock speed and...

BETTER THAN THE FX'S Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: The x2 5600 is identical to the fx62 IN ALL CPU TESTS and is faster than the fx72 in most cpu tests. Check out _TO M'S Cpu hardware reviews. The x2 performs excactly the same in all tests , but the 5600 is about $50.00 cheaper. This 5600 IS CLEARLY faster than my old fx60.I have the 5600 paired with anASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 5...

It's all about the cache Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: An excellent processor that goes well with my Foxconn N570SM2AA-8EKRS2H AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI Motherboard. It has L2 2x1MB cache as opposed to L2 2x512K cache! It includes a OEM heat sink. I have read reviews where people grumble about the heat sink, the included heat sink works just fine for me and the fan is quiet. The heat sink even had a thermal pad instal...
