Quite pleased indeed I purchased this drive to replace a Buffalo drive that had failed (quite spectacularly, I might add). I am an independent software development consultant, and need to make daily backups of project source and data, so it was very important that I find a more solid solution than I had previously.
When I purchased the drive there were no reviews available, but the price was attractive and I had not heard anything negative about the manufacturer, and it had all of the features I was lo...

Great network storage device Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: *Good file transfer speed for CIFS (windows file sharing/samba) *Lots of supported protocols (CIFS, FTP, AFP, etc) *Gig netwok connection *Default format for the drive now appears to be XFS which resolves issues with file size that the earlier FAT32 formatted devices had. *Quality construction *Expandable storage via USB2 port (Flash or ext HDD)

Great Device This is my 2nd networked harddrive. My first was a device that used SCSI software for an interface and has repeatedly been problematic. I was referred to Lacie by Apple and it has been a great choice. This device is accessible to any networked computer by accessing it's IP address. A terrific product for anyone that wants to store data and access it from multiple computers on the network. NO SOFTWARE REQUIRED.

Good investment Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: Small, compact, and quiet. Just the way external Hd's should be. Setup was simple enough (assuming you understand how networking works) as the supplied software handles most of the tasks for you. You can add an additional external HD via USB if you wish as well.
Cons: Power cord seems a bit big (has the standard 2 prong cord, plus the box...

Pretty fast but young interface Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Good speed - I copied a 290 MB file (Unreal Tournament ut2004-demo3334.exe) to: Lacie 301137U: 45 seconds SNAP 1000 (1100): 3 minutes 12 seconds MS 2003 Server (P4 1.8 w/384 meg RAM): 1 minute 9 seconds it's easy to setup - simple features so not much to mess up...
Cons: The web interface is immature - slow screen refresh rate. Basically it offers the bare minimum settings to allow it to...

Great Product :) Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: 400mhz cpu & 64mb of ram :P ...you can access it from any computer in your house, decent transfer speeds, small, and it is very quiet.
Cons: somewhat difficult to setup, i had to go to all of my computers and map a network drive to ""\\EDMINI\share"", but after figuring that out, it is well worth the investment. slower than usb, but i ...

Wish it was still returnable Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Metal case and SATA interface inside
Cons: Slow, twonkymedia server is not upgradeable to new versions, louder than I expected, web interface is horrifically slow, no third party hacks, and the permissions system is buggy and unreliable. After the last firmware upgrade, it couldn't even scan the media in the directories, and reported ZERO media files when in fact there are over 6...

Great little device Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: Small size and easy hookup is great. Creating shares and users as well as assigning permissions is pretty straightforward. Able to use with XP, Linux and OSX simultaneously with no issues.
Cons: A little slower than I expected, but nothing I can't live with. At first I wasn't happy about being locked to xfs only and not being able to part...

Misadvertisement Tech Level: high Ownership: less than 1 day This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: Its inexpensive.
Cons: Under their CD and documentation (By clicking Ethernet Disk Mini -> Documents) the FAQ has misleading information saying that drive can work under a domain setup. This is entirely not true and is a blatent misadvertisement. Lacie support was terrible. Avoid buying this unit at all costs.

Easy to set up for wi-fi Mac network I bought this drive for our small web design shop. We have a wi-fi network -- mostly macs and this drive is proving to work out great. Mounts like any other drive on my Mac after connecting to the device. My main concern was transferring files over wi-fi, but for general day-to-day use it's pretty fast. I run daily backups to a different drive that leaves the building with me and I have found that I need to allow a good bit more time to do that. Set up was very easy (although I would consider...
