Simple design, reliable product Tech Level: high
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: VERY simple install, drivers on disk work very well with Windows XP. COM port doesn't change when card reinserted (common problem with USB devices). We use this for running timing towers at racing events, gave up on USB-Serial converters because of many issues with many different converters.
Cons: Non so far, very high quality product

Pros: This emulates a hardware DB-9 port perfectly. We use an industrial software that does not like USB to DB-9 adapters, however it works with these PCMCIA devices. This is nearly 1/2 of the price of the St*rtech device.

Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Easy to use, complete versatility when it comes to serial ports, once installed it's the same as if your computer came with it.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Used a usb-to-serial adapter for my GPS, but couldn't get it to work with my automotive serial interface. Bought the Siig adapter and worked right from the start.
