Pros: Works reliably and fast. Uses a solid USB header for connecting to the motherboard instead of just a bunch of wires you have to decipher the hook-up order to get it installed. Been using these in system builds for a year now and haven't had a single one of them go bad yet. Comes with a beige and black exchangable face plate.

tip about "safely remove hardware"

Tech Level: high
Ownership: less than 1 day

Pros: You DON'T have to "safely remove hardware" and reboot to safely change cards..... See other thoughts...

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I've seen a lot of people complaining about Windows disabling the whole device when you click "safely remove hardware." This is a Windows issue, not a card reader issue. I have probably 10-15 different card re...

Very, very nice...

Tech Level: somewhat high
Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg

Pros: Lows cost. Works great. And I needed a reader that could handle Xd cards. Also it looks pretty good.

Cons: Some persons might have trouble changing the face plate. The secret is to go slowly and gently and it will fit. A little experience servicing radios and tv's in plastic cabinets might help.

One of my favorite purchases!

Tech Level: high
Ownership: more than 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg

Pros: It reads everything! I've used smart media, sd, mmc, minisd, micro sd, memory stick/pro, compact flash, and even a 4GB SDHC card! I haven't had any problems with it and have not had to install any drivers either (xp sp2). This reader makes life so much easer with regards to removable storage.

Cons: Minor gripes (...

looks good so far

Tech Level: somewhat high
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg

Pros: It's all good.

Cons: A door on the front would be nice to prevent dust from getting into the slots but I haven't seen that even on similar products costing more.

Other Thoughts: This thing has exactly what I want for features. Hooking it up to a 10-pin USB motherboard header was no problem after slight ...

Pros: It reads and writes at USB 2.0 speeds. It was easy to install, no drivers needed with XP. I love the TFlash/Micro SD slot, now I can read/write to my Micro SD cards without using an SD adapter! Comes with both a black and white front panel cover. Powered by USB.
