Disappointed - Room for a lot of Improvements The setup was relatively easy if you follow the instructions and not try to figure stuff out by yourself (which will result in a few dead ends and double work).
After I had it setup and running and installed the "indexing" service on my computer did I learned that the software is unable to include files from a network share and only locally stored files.... bummer, good that I bought a network storage for my video library a couple months earlier to be able to access it from multiple ...

Doesn't work with new routers I will soon be using this device as a hard wired device. It does not support SEVERAL new routers, including all type N routers that I have researched, and the D-Link - Xtreme N Wireless-N Gigabit Router does not work for sure. Plus, if it did work, the device only supports WEP, which is just about as good as taping your front door closed. The only plus that this device has is that it works with GB-PVR, but I can't use that until I have an ethernet cable running to my living room. Stick with the ...

Works pretty well, Haupauggue support stinks I've had this for over year and it works pretty well. The user interface leaves a bit to desired, but it is functional and pretty easy to figure.
As noted in other reviews, lag time on the remote is frustrating, but not impossible. Sometimes playback of video is jittery over the wireless interface. Again, not a showstopper.
Now that I've upgraded to Windows Vista, the PC server software no longer works and Haupauggue has no idea when or if it will ever support it for the...

Good product This does pretty much what I expected it to. I'm using it with GBPVR running as a server on my main PC across the house. There is a slight lag time for remote control functions, but other than that everything has worked pretty well right out of the box.

It will share files over multiple networked computers... It will share files across multiple networked computers but you must tell the MVPMedia.exe service the admin username/password to give it full access to the shared computer(s). Go to Control panel->Administrative Tools->Services. Right-click on MVPMedia.exe and select Properties. Then click on the Log On tab and tell it to use "\.YOURUSERNAME" without the quotes and then type in your password and then confirm your password. MVPMedia.exe will then try that username/password for any computer yo...

Great potential, short on results. I bought this product because I believed it truly was the right approach as a media extender for what I use, which is "Beyond TV". I have a wireless network set up which has excellent signal strength and was recognized by the MediaMVP but, for some reason, was not able to acquire an IP address from my router. I investigated every option I had but was unsuccessful in getting it to work, Sadly, I eventually had to return the item. I hope Hauppauge will make the effort to improve this device becaus...

Wireless is useless Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: Small, quiet, comes with remote.
Cons: DOES NOT SUPPORT WPA! Only does WEP, and also the wireless functionality is not very robust. The CPU is very slow.. navigating menus is sluggish, video can be choppy. Wireless G is really not enough for high quality video streaming... too many factors can ruin the performance.
Other Th...

Wireless is bad Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: When you use the wired connection it is awesome. I use SageTV and I had no problems getting it working with a wired connection.
Cons: It should be illegal to sell the wireless version. I have two wireless routers and it wouldn't even connect to one of them (other people have had this problem too). It connected to the other rou...

I like my Hauppauge Media MVP Wireless This digital media receiver actually worked better than advertised since it also plays dvr-ms files recorded by Windows Media Center 2002. I had to play around to find a free wireless channel, but it now works great.
