It works It's works. The only dislike I have is it can only export the disk using Windows or Apple shares, so if you are using Linux you'll have to use smbfs to connect.

Buffalo Linkstation This product is an excellent buy it is my first Network Storage device and I have litle regrets it has performed as stated by manufacturer. The only problem was I tried getting some assistance from tech support and they are very letargic in their response. Generally what makes this product a great device is due to the fact that it runs on a linux o/s therfore it very stable and the Hard Drive is made by Western Digital.
When I installed it at first it was connected to a Linksys WRT54G 10/1...

Very easy to use Considering the complexity of what it does, I'm very happy with how easy it is to set up and use this NAS, with Windows XP or Windows 2000.
You can run the setup program from the CD without installing it, to find the IP. And then go to that IP in your web browser, and set up drives and users. You have good detailed control over access. Also can set up backups to USB drives, directly connected to the NAS.

Couldn't be more user friendly It almost sets itself up. I use static ip addresses on my home network and usually have to manually configure everything I install. I plugged it into my network, it configured everything all by itself perfectly!! I couldn't hardly believe it. It has so many features for power users yet it would be good for a novice in that you just plug it in and it works. I looked at cheaper brands but this unit has the latest features and technology included in it and you just can't beat its value.

Perfect Solution I have the Link Station connected to my router and I am able to store all the files on my laptop and desktop. I can access them from both computers and save back to the Link station without a problem. Just like a network server. I haven't found a single problem.

Linkstation 250GB review I purchased the first generation Linkstation 250GB a couple of years ago and have been happy with it. Only problem I have had is that the fan started making strange noises (bearings failed) so I got a new replacement fan for $25. Given my overall good experiences, I decided to purchase a new Linkstation Pro 250GB recently to add to my server farm. Highly recommend the Buffalo.

Excellent product I originally purchased a D-link DSM-G600. It was awful. Don't buy it.
The Linkstation Pro LS-250GL is close to perfect. I can have as many shares as I please. The speed is tremendous (20-25 megabytes /second) without setting up Jumbo packets.

Ethernet Hard Drive Works as Advertised First off, the Buffalo LinkStation 250GB drive operates as advertised with a simple to follow hardware/software installation. The drive runs so quiet that you have to look at the green LEDs on the front panel to tell if it is on. This item would be near perfect hardware-wise, if it had a 'sleep' mode for powering down the disk drive and fan after the drive is not accessed within a user settable time.
