Irritating Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Meh.
Cons: After spending 2 weeks on the phone with Linksys I managed to get to a ""level 3 tech"". Must be stronger than a level 2 wizard or something. I was told that this SSL VPN product was not compatible with Vista Ultimate 64 and he was not sure when it would be. The fact that they haven't updated the firmware in a year worries me. I think it was a nice way of telling m...

Mac users beware Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Easy to setup. Capable interface and performance.
Cons: Purchased this specifically for SSL VPN and it's stated support of OS X. Supports Tiger but not Leopard. The ""latest"" firmware is over a year old and no Leopard support. Client fails with a Java error and no response/support from Linksys.

LINKSYS RVL200 is excellent Tech Level: average Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: I ordered the RVL200 one day and Newegg had it to me the following day even though only 3 day shipping was promised. With the help of Linksys tech support I had the VPN up and running the same day. This router is easy to work with, is rock solid and runs cool. My objective was to remote access my primary network when away and SSL VPN and Linksys' Virtual Pa...

No support, FTP issues, slow I was a real Linksys fan until I tried this guy. Now, I find myself with a router that does NOT work properly when passing FTP client traffic to the net and (when it is not rebooting) runs VERY slowly. I am in the market for another brand if anybody has any suggestions.

Limited success, but returning it Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: SSL VPN is nice. Works well with IE, but other browsers are right out. Easy to setup for someone without a great deal of VPN experience.
Cons: Crashes frequently if your running any sort of Bitorrent client behind the firewall. Overall speeds of the router were very significantly slower than my FVS318. Could hold up to 500kb/s on the 318,...

SSL VPN has issues with Vista - -support nonexistent Works fine as a router, and SSL VPN client works fine with XP (note that you need admin permissions on your machine to install the virtual adaptor).
Vista is another issue. Linksys recently released new firmware 1.17 which supports Vista, and I did get it to work breifly before it started doing some weird things.
Trying to resolve with Linksys tech support, but I am not hopeful.
Note that this product falls into a special category - you need to call for sup...

Excellent performance, relatively easy setup I've only setup the SSL clients, which was a breeze. I didn't need the manual, but after setup I did have a question or two. On reading the documentation I found it a little sparse, but it was adequate. This is not a device for a novice. My only real disappointment is in the fact that from the SSL login screen there is no way to change your password, thus the '4' for performance. It seems that for such a security device, an ability for the user to change their password from that given by th...

Great Router - SSL makes VPN easy to setup Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: SSL VPN is Simple and Easy to use. Latest Firmware supports connection from Windows Vista Clients.
Cons: Only 1 IPSec Tunnel. I have three of these routers that I'd like to be able to connect using IPSec, but I am instead forced to add an additional router at one location that supports more than 1 Tunnel.

P O S - Do not buy Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: Ummmm... Pretty LEDs (actually, boring red / green). The power supply worked
Cons: This thing has been nothing but hassle. First one was completely non-functional. Newegg replaced it. Got the new one, installed it, immediately things were running SLOWER than with an el-cheapo Linksys BEFSR41v4. After about a month, it random...

Great VPN SSL Solution Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: Excellent Router. It has tons and tons of options. It is fast and it also has tons of options, including Vlans so that you can separate your network or share wifi without exposing your network. The SSL connection is as easy as the other reviewer said. You can make it even easier by using dyndns and a redirect to https://youripaddress I'm buying 2 more of thes...
