Panasonic 50PX60U - What you should know

I first saw this Panasonic plasma at several major retailers. Although the TV was extremely well rated, what I observed were pictures that appeared unrealistic with HD (high definition) programs and cartoon-like with SD (standard definition) programs. It didn't matter if it was this 50" model or the more expensive 58" model, in person the picture on these plasma TV's lacked the quality I was expecting at each retailer I saw them. This didn't make sense to me. I wanted to buy a reasonably pri...

Great TV for the money!

I love this TV! Buy it and have fun.

This was my first HD TV purchase. I waited several years and waded through a lot of websites and consumer magazines, and visited all the big box stores (repeatedly). After considering Plasma, LCD, and DLP systems, I settled on plasma for its picture quality, unlimited viewing angles, and minimum space requirements. (Though I will say LCD's have come along way). Once I settled on a plasma, my research found the Panasonic 42" and 50" models consis...

Best value on the most amazing TV I've ever seen!

I did a ton of research before purchasing this TV. My brother-in-law just bought a Sony LCD, and I had the opportunity of viewing that for a month before buying this one. In my opinion, plasmas blow LCDs away in picture quality. This is especially true when it comes to the black levels. LCDs can't touch the deepness of the blacks or the contrast ratios of plasmas. The unreliability of plasmas are now a thing of the past. No longer do we have to deal with burn-in issues and unreliable picture q...

Excellent television, superb value!

Just to give you an idea of where I'm coming from . . . before purchasing this television, I was using a Sony Trinitron 27 inch that was about 8 years old. This is my first plasma television. I have it connected to a Cablevision HDTV cablebox with HDMI output, a Sony DVPNS75H Single Disc Upscaling DVD Player, and an Onkyo 6.1 HTIB system. This review is also based upon my first 100 hours of viewing using the "break in" setttings that can found online for this panasonic model. My couch is app...

Great quality & value.

I had this TV shipped to me after I returned a Vizio 50" plasma to Costco. Having hauled that 125lb monster both ways in the back of our SUV, I can tell you that delivery alone is a great feature!

I have the TV hooked up via DVI->HDMI cable to my home theater PC, and get great results. My NVidia card has no problem dealing with the overscan. This means that the RGB interface you pay extra $$$ for on the PX600U isn't worth it; IMO those that insist on 1x1 pixel mapping are misguided ...

Vivid setting gives a bad first impression

Panasonic sure isn't doing themselves any favors by shipping this TV with the picture set to "Vivid" by default. I went to several stores and dismissed this plasma each and every time because in side-by-side comparisons, it seemingly had inferior picture quality. But after several weeks of research, I stumbled upon reviews for this TV and learned about the Vivid setting and that most users hated it. So I delved deeper, and I have to say, if it weren't for the many favorable user opinions and ...

Awesome TV Picture and Sound!!!!

First thing - The Hi-Def on this Baby looks like you're really there. I found that there was absolutely no need to change any of the settings on this TV. As a 9th Generation Plasma Panel the only difference between this TV and the "TH-50PX50U" is that it offers Contrast of 10,000:1 instead of 3,000:1 and this one is supposedly an "Energy Saver". Which is strange because when you compare the two the wattage on the TH-50PX50U is 525 watts and this one is only 515 watts. A difference of only 10 wa...

Panasonic 50" Plasma

This TV was rated #2 by a highly respected electronic publication. It was second only to a Pioneer set that was $1000 more expensive and out of stock on many websites. I have been extremely pleased with the audio (surround sound) and video (HDTV) capabilities of this model. Set up was a breeze.

I can't say enough about Amazon and this Product

We've had our Panasonic 50" plasma for a week and can't turn it off it's so beautiful. Amazing clarity and color doesn't seem to do it justice. To say we are very happy with our purchase is a real understatement. I'll take this opportunity to review Amazon's customer service department also. I had to call them because the Credit Card police blocked the sale. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining....however, it seems there was a discrepancy in the account which raised the flag. I corrected ...

Great television worth every penny.

This is my first Plasma TV and I'm very impressed. The unit showed up quickly and was in perfect shape. I've had my eye on a plasma TV ever since they were 20K for a 50' about 6 years ago.

Right out of the box the unit doesn't make any noise at all. It has two fans on the back of the unit at the top and then make almost no noise. This means that the unit is very quiet and very nice when watching TV at a low volume.

The most noticeable thing about this TV is the ...
