More inputs than I first thought! I was disappointed at first because you only get 4 video switches: DVD,VCR,DBS, and AUX. But it's actually better than this since you can dynamically select where (HDMI,Comp,S or C) these inputs come from (Note that only VCR and DVD have the HDMI option). For instance, for "DVD" you can easily change the video input to come from HDMI,Component,S, or Composite, and you can *separately* select where the audio comes from: HDMI,Digital, or Analog. So here's how I have mine set up: DVD - HDMI from ...

Form, Fit & Function in a Nice Package Having recently upgraded my home theatre system I needed a multi-channel audio video receiver that would supply multiple input control and functionality in a relatively compact space. I wanted a receiver that would provide HDMI switching and be capable of powering large, wide range speakers. The JVC turned out to be ideal on both counts due to it's low profile yet ample power reserve allowing easy placement in my rather limited widescreen tv support shelf.
Although my HDMI DVD pla...

Great receiver and GREAT JVC SUPPORT! I received this receiver a couple days ago and had many problems with setup. I wanted this device for a couple of reasons, mainly because it includeded HDMI switching but also because my 42" LCD hangs on the wall and my components are about 35 feet away and I didn't want to run cables for every component to the TV. I wanted 1 HDMI cable to run from this device to the TV and 1 set of speaker wire. All other components I wanted to plug into this receiver.
At first attempt, I got vi...

great almost all-digital receiver this is a great receiver - it doesn't have 20 different inputs for your 4 devices, but you know what? i only have a handful of inputs and they are all digital anyhow!
i can't remember the last time i watched a VHS movie and odn't even own a VCR. record player? before my time...

Worth every Penny Tech Level: average Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg.com
Pros: The receiver hits all the ranges. Awesome sound for the price. If you have a laptop with windows media player, the USB wireless feature is a great perk and easy to setup. The gaming experience is pretty amazing. Movies are even better. I have seen and heard several different receivers and the JVC RX-702B is by far the best receiver for your money, most def...

Go else where if you want reliability!!! I received this stereo on 11/29/06 as promised. I really liked the sound from my computer. A wonderful idea!!!! I just wish other manufactures would follow suit.
Out the box, my HDMI worked flawlessly. However, when I hooked up my DVD player, I got sound but no picture. When I hooked up my VCR, the same thing happened. I called JVC tech support and the first tier could not help me so I was told the second tier support would call me back in 2 hours. After 3 hours of waiting, I calle...

Do your homework! Small size, but it gets very hot! Leave lots of room for ventilation. Looks like it has lots of connections for lots of equipment, but not really. No phono or CD inputs, and it combines VCR/DBS, and DVD/DVR inputs. Won't output sound to TV via HDMI cable even if you use HDMI input from DVD or DBS/Cable. Sound quality is good, but I'd check out the comparable Denon model (about $150 more) if you've got lots of equipment to connect.

Best receiver I've had I have had a few receivers and have never really been completely happy with any. Either one was one input too short or the digital input was the wrong type. But this one is the best I have had. And the fact that it is so small is great. I'll never go back to a receiver that is the size of a house again.

Great but be aware of wireless interference The price, features, performance here is top notch. Everyone is having issues with HDMI connections right now so don't let that stop you, it is a problem for everyone and there is a learning curve.
The sound from the receiver is very good and the class D amp does run hot, they all do. This one is pumping out 150W per channel so the left side of the unit gets very hot. You will not want to put in in an enclosed audio cabinet without an additonal fan in the cabinet.
The u...

Much more audio/video than video-and-audio Our old JVC receiver was more audio than video [and certainly was not HDMI!], and we loved it. We picked this one, not because it was a JVC [thought that's not a negative; we've had very good luck w/JVC], but because it seemed to be the most cost-effective HDMI on the market. Big problem we faced was that it has NO connections for solely audio equipment [like CD changers, tape decks, phonos, etc.].
Hookup was easy except for speaker wires. The connections for those are too close ...
