It's a NIC Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Cheap, works, universal PCI (3.3V or 5V), autodetected and installed by Win XP
Cons: Not free?
Other Thoughts: In our relatively undemanding church network (10 systems) they work just as well as any other NIC. I order them by the half dozen since we routinely lose them to lightning strikes (terri...

Decent Product...Excellent price Tech Level: Ownership:
Comments: I've installed nearly 100 TrendWare/TrendNet Ethernet cards. They're extremely reliable and utilize the Realtek chipset (RTL8139D), which is extremely popular and trustworthy. 100baseT actually only requires 4 wires to (Two twisted Pairs) to achieve the 100 Mbs transmission speed. The other two pairs 'generally' aren't required. Remember, I said generally. I'm not an expert and do...

Unbelieveably Cheap-Perfectly Fine Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Realtek chipset installs under WinXp and is found/installed instantly with no problems. Hey, it's a 10/100 network card for $5.79! I bought three and they all work. It's costing me more to write this positive review than I've spent on these cards!
Cons: None=Not Free ;-)

good tiny card Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Recognized by everything I've used them with remarkably tiny very inexpensive
Cons: not made of diamonds
Other Thoughts: This thing is no taller than a standard RAM module, so you can fit a few of these into a modified 1U case if you remove that ugly metal thing, so you can use that 1U compy as a router, too.

Works great Tech Level: Ownership: This user purchased this item from Newegg
Comments: Bought two of these a year ago. Using one in a Debian box, the other in an IPCop firewall, in both cases the cards simply worked without adding anything to the kernel. Haven't really tested transfer rate or CPU usage, but they seem fine. Haven't had any reliability issues. They're good, inexpensive cards.
