Pros: Automaatically detects router in any port. Slim Profile, Dual activity lights let you differentiate 100mb vf 1gb throughput. Pros: This unit replaced an 8 port Linksys 1Gbps switch that failed after a few weeks of service. This GS116 unit has no user controls or setups, but sppears to be functioning just fine without any. I couldn't be happier! This Netgear Prosafe switch is clean, low profile, with low power consumption, no noisy fan, and no set up. Combine all that with Netgear offering a mail-in rebate and this switch is a clear winner. I have just added four new computers to my network with Gigabit NIC's and am enjoying the gigabit capability of my new Netgear Gigabit switch with it's downward compatibility for my remaining 100Base T machines.

I did and after another 3 months I called and they said I did not send in the correct information. Now I ask You, why would I send information for resubmittal and not send what they needed. Other Thoughts: To Dee, the GS116 has supported Jumbo Frames SINCE "Serial number starting 19E or 140x5B or 140x5C". To verify JF you could enable 9000(std?) JF's on all the hardware connected -through- the GS116 and see if it is indeed dropping these large packets.

A Good product in small case, but big package For long time I have a prefer for the Netgear product, that is a great brand.
For the GS116 I recomend for smart and this small case, ideal for a desktop or tiny or flat spaces, but not for a rack. The Gigabyte perfomance is excelent ( at SOHO and Home Networks )
the only tiny cons is that package will be just little.
