Performed as Promised This is a boring category - especially for a small business with only moderate networking requirements.
I needed a short depth form factor to fit into a rack mount system. This device fit.
I wanted 1 GBPS to maximize desktop to NAS backup. This unit delivered. I can max out the link using Norton Ghost to DLink NAS from my Dell desktop. There was no performance degradation from adding 100MB and 10MB devices to the switch (there isn't a lot of traffic on the network)...

Pros: NO FANS=QUIET SWITCH
Replaced a roaring FS524 with this. I looked everywhere to figure out if it had fans, but took a chance. NO FANS!!! Great, rugged, quiet, typical NETGEAR.
Cons: An ON/OFF switch would be a plus.

great 16 port switch brainless installation - plug in and it works. No hassles. Can't comment on durability yet(check back in three years). My netgear prosafe router is still going strong after six years.

Nice Fast switch I plugged it in and it worked mostly. I was replacing a smaller gigabit switch with this one. I had problems getting some computers that had 1Gb cards to talk to the switch, or only talk intermittently. I addressed the problem by switching old cables with new ones and the problem went away. The old cables work fine on connections to computers that only support 100Mb cards, and the old switch did not complain about the cables, I'm disappointed that the switch did not work at 100Mb with the old...

Works As another reviewer said, it's a boring product, but hey, it works. We've had one in place for 3 years and it's never caused a problem. I'd call it a solid product.

Pros: I had no trouble, never had to reset the switch ever since I installed it, back in march. (september now).
Cons: N/A
Other Thoughts: It is a bit loud to keep inside the office or bedroom, but if you can place it in a closet, you're good to go! (talking about the fan here...)
