Works and Looks Great

Tech Level: somewhat high
Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg.com

Pros: I bought it to power a remotely located Toshiba IK-WB15A network camera and it works perfectly. Very solid metal case construction and it has mounting screw holes in the base.

Cons: None so far. It does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Other Thoughts: I think the instructions say that it's intended to po...

NOT 802.3af compliant!

SMC-PWRINJ3 is NOT 802.3af compliant, contrary to the manufacturer's claim. Current 802.3af standard stipulates max. output of 15.4W per user port (at 48VDC, most compliant products output 350-400mA). This product outputs 50W (48VDC, 1A)! Are you kidding me?

Tech Level: high
Ownership: less than 1 day
This user purchased this item from Newegg.com

Pros: This is a standards based PoE injector. Works great with my Netgear WAG102. No wall wart.

Cons: Somewhat heavy, but I guess that's to be expected with the built in power supply.

Works great, nice piece

Tech Level: high
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg.com

Pros: I bought two and am using them to power 2 Linksys/Cisco wireless access points. The injectors worked great out of the box, heavy industrial field, and can (and in my case are) wall mounted. This is commercial grade stuff, not cheap home network gear.

Cons: A little pricey, but not by a lot.

Other Thoughts: Newegg...

No problems so far with 20+ installed

Tech Level: high
Ownership: more than 1 year

Pros: We've been using these to power Axis IP video surveillance cameras for over 2.5 years in locations that there aren't enough to justify a POE switch. I think we've got upwards of 30 installed and no failures yet. The biggest advantage of them is not having the built-in patch cable like the Linksys ones. Those restrict you to just hanging them off the front of your switch, which is ugly and not a good practice....
