Functional but not real friendly - REVISED Fours Stars Now! An update - I setup another one of these this weekend and it worked very well. This one I ordered from Amazon and it had more recent firmware and software. Additionally, the Hawking site had software and firmware upgrades that I could apply. Overall, much less tinkering, but still a little head scratching. For the price and ease of use with the new and improved interface, this is a pretty good deal.
I'd now rate this a 4 star product, but I can't change that.

Totally Smooth I read the reviews here, but decided to try it out anyway, as it is the cheapest alternative I could find. Waste of time Good news is that I Saved my Disk Partition before loading ANY Hawking S/W because I couldnt wait to get rid of all my Hawking S/W. After spending many hours trying to get this Print Server to work I gave up... Returning this today!
You would think that Hawking would do something with their poor documentation / install after all the terrible comments about install on this product. Did they ever test this install?
Never going to buy another Hawking product!

Great Device Works well for anyone that needs to connect a parallel printer to an Ethernet network. Easy to setup and configure. Point the client computer to the device's IP address, load the driver and go. I have 20 or so installed in various locations and all have been trouble free. Great value for the price.

Please stay away This is my first posting towards any product that I have bought online. I consider myself to be very tech saavy and was in need of an ethernet enabled print server. Decent product, Awful Support Just completed my installation on two computers, took me at least 16 hours to figure things out.
Most important lesson is, do not rely on their so called 24/7 support. It's not really 24/7.
I called them at least 10 times.
These are the results:
1..Waited for 2 hours, and had to hang up (time for my bed time).
2..Waited for 1 hour, had to eat my dinner.
3..Waited for 45 mins, the line finally got through but no one was talking, I can hear the chair, keyboard...

Pass It By... The best I was able to do was to get this device to work with one of the two computers on my network. With the other computer, the software hangs ups, and I can't even delete the printer. Their tech support is a joke: you wait online for a half hour, and when you get to the front of the queue, SURPRISE! you have to leave them a voice mail, which, of course, they don't return. Speaking of return, that's what I'm doing with it right now.

There are at least two hardware revisions I suspect part of the reason for the varied reviews is that there are at least two hardware revisions of this product. The older and larger ones don't support all of the features on the newer ones, can't have their firmware upgraded, and might as well not exist on the Hawking website. The newer (and physically smaller) revision has updates available for the firmware and software and has a larger range of features.
I didn't have any problems with either for plain LPR printing, but they also...

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR Setup documentation is missing fundamentally important points (such as, be sure to disable WindowsXP firewall before installing), their Tech Support doesn't answer the phone, online FAQ is dismally short, and their Customer Service does not answer emailed questions. Other than that, the product worked, once a longer-than-necessary trial and error installation process was over.
