Fantastic Unit; very few pitfalls Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: For the price, and the features, the TS-409 Pro a fantastic unit. I wouldn't hesitate recommending it. I'd say for the technically inclined, this is the NAS of choice. For the less technical/nerdy, it might be a bit overkill.
The interface is fairly straightforward setup and the looks are great. I've had my unit since April '08, and have yet to have a crash, disk fail or anything. FYI&...

Powerful!! This unit gets 10 out of 10!!! Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I love everything about this little NAS from the Hot Swap disks to the many levels of RAID. I just want to keep this simple so all I want to say is read the many reviews all over the web (all of them praise the unit or one of the QNAP servers) they will give all the tech. facts you want. I also own three Readynas NV+ units it would be unfair to ...

2 thumbs up! Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: This is a compact server, Not just a NAS server. It's 500MHZ processor, and 256MB of ram are fantastic, especially when most NAS devices only come with a 33mhz to 100mhz processor, and between 32MB and 128MB RAM. There are way too many features to praise properly, but the best features are: native SSH access, built in replication, server for almost everything (itunes, UPnP, DHCP, web, MYSQL, DDNS, ...

Do Not Buy The TS-409 Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: It arrived within 3 days of ordering.
Cons: SATA disks listed on the Hard Drive Compatibility List did not fit properly and had to be installed without the racks (this required opening the case and voiding the warranty).
Even after reseating all cables and double checking hard drives are properly in place, the TS-409 randomly s...

Excellent product Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I replaced a link nss4000 with this and let me tell you the differences are night and day. This thing is very fast and very easy to setup. I have t connected to AD and it works great. I am shocked at how good this thing performs.
Cons: Well i have 3-250GBs and 1-750GB that i was wanting to stick in a RAID 5+1 configuration. I cannot tell ...

Seagate 7200.11 1TB Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: High capacity, connect and forget.
Cons: need to remove a jumper before using it at full speed. This step is poorly detailed in the manual. Not really green (power consumption), tend to run hot (~40C+)

Qnap TS-409 Pro Turbo NAS Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Easy to setup, easy to maintain and upgrade (software), run flawlessly, allow to move some downloading task from your PC to the QNAP

Excellent Home Server Tech Level: average Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: I have used this for 3 months now as a home media server, and can't be happier. I have four 500MB drives in a RAID-5 array, which gives me 1.4TB with data redundancy on the data. To date, it's only needed one SW restart. It streams full motion video to 3 concurrent users without any stuttering. It has a great power saving feature that spins down the disks until they're needed, but "wakes u...
