Excellent ease of use and performance Our wireless router just wasn't able to get a good connection to our new video room so I started looking at options. I had to send the connection from one side of the house to the other and while I've stayed away from powerline adapters in the past, I found that some of the newer ones were getting decent reviews, including the XAV101s. I bought the 'starter pak' and after 10 minutes had them up and running. The remote is connected at 152 Mbps so I'm happy as can be with the connection. I see...

Works almost perfect got the Netgear Powerline AV Adapter after my wireless always dropped when I tried streaming a movie from an NAS. I did not want to run a cable through the whole house so I tried this. Out the box I had it running in less than 10 minutes. If your network is already set up no configuration needed. Simple unplug the Ethernet cable out of your router and plug it into the adapter 1 and into a wall. Then use a second internet cable and connect it to adapter 2 and back were you removed the first Ether...

Works perfectly I have used a number of powerline networks and most of them are bad at best. I had completely given up, but then read about the new Homeplug AV standard, so I tried it. It works great and I'm pushing it with multiple media streams.

Slow, YMMV Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Easy to install. Plugged both in and they connected to each other within 20 seconds.
Cons: Throughput was too low for my use.
Other Thoughts: I wanted to extend the network to a new HTPC. The throughput was on 28Mbps. I tried different locations in the house and the best throughput was 43Mbps and that was with both units in the same room on the same circu...

Good product This product is awesome for people that do not have the time or money to wire their house with Cat 5 cables. I previously had wireless adapters connected to my computer and xbox 360 two floors away from my router and they were getting 16-24mbps max with pings from 150-200ms. With these powerline adapters I constantly have a connection speed of 90-100mbps with pings around 25-65ms.Super easy to set up, just plug each end into a WALL power outlet and connect the ethernet cables(one to a router/mod...

Works as advertised Works as expected. No hassle installation, which is quite a relief. Didn't need to touch the thing ever since inserting them into the outlets. The important point is that there were power grid failures, rebooting of other devices, etc. These guys handled it all transparently.
I was contemplating (with gloom!) the prospect of having to run cables from the place the cable modem enters the place all the way to this office, which is quite a ways away from there. This is SOOO much easier, ...

Almost Perfect Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: This is a great product if you are so tired of using wireless cards. I get above 100 mbps which I think is great and I haven't had any problems with it. These are a newer model because they do not get that hot, which I think is awesome.
Cons: Its Netgear, LOL. Also it comes with software that must be intstalled prior to using. The sling link powerline was plug and play, no so...

Not Even Close! I purchased quite a few Netgear products over the years: a print server, a wireless access point, a few wireless adapters and network hubs... Over the past years I started getting disappointed with the quality of Netgear's products, and, especially, extremely poor quality of its online support.
So when I decided to try the powerline technology, I bought this Netgear Av Net kit of two adapters. Here is what I have found:
Pros: - Promise of a fast, reliable, and secure ...

Works great! Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Lets me move my Wireless router away from my Comcast modem, extending it's range so that it can go throughout the house. Easy to set up, I just plugged the first one in to the extra jack provided by the Comcast plug, and the other one into the wall by where I placed my router, and it worked.
Cons: None I have seen yet.
Other Thoughts: I'm definatel...

Netgear XAVB101 Review Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: - Ease of setup--simply plug n play. - No issues with Ubuntu 8.04 and WinXP SP3, but I had the impression the OS didn't create much of a problem with these kinds of devices, as it seemed to me to be a different aspect of it...but that's not for here. - Currently using it to connect a PS3 to my router, and it performs sufficiently faster than w...
