There will never be a "perfect" HDTV, but... I have searched far and wide for the "perfect" LCD HDTV for at least 2 years, and there isn't one. If you think you've found one then do not go searching for Reviews -- and stay away from the heavily-active Forums that discuss these items because you will become discouraged.

Toshiba 52" Masterpiece This TV is a stunning LCD panel.
5:5 pulldown, great upconvert, small bezel, hdmi 1.3a for future...
I still can't believe how good it looks.
If I had to say the negatives...
Panel is in between a plasma and lcd as far as gloss (I think they call it new matt or somethign)... It does reflect some light not as bad as plasma but it does reflect.
Inputs in back are kind of in a bad place for wall mount
Unit is 6 inches thick --

Just got it I bought this at an electronics store. In a line up of about a dozen 50"+ LCD and Plasma tv's of varying prices, I picked this one out immediately as having the nicest, sharpest picture. Very Impressed out of the Box Just got this lcd last night and without even tweeking it yet I was very impressed by the color compare to the vizio 46 that I returned from costco.Comparing the two tv's is not an option. Now I can see real blacks and the color is so amazing. How much more if I tweek it, but i dont have time right now due to busy work but I know it will be better when i start tweeking it with my calibration software. Great HDTV set Tech Level: high
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Excellent picture quality and very bright. Good black levels. This line has Samsung sourced panels. The semi-matte screen almost completely eliminates a screen glare (unlike similar Samsung sets). A lot of options for video calibration. Highly customizable video settings setup.
Cons: Out-of-the-box settings are not so good, TV needs to be calibrated for the optimal PQ. Surprising...

Pros: 5:5 Pulldown for movie sources -- matte/gloss hybrid screen... 3 hdmi 1.3a - decent black levels for an LCD -- no green push as in prior Toshs--- Thin Bezel - great cabinet -- no hdmi sync issues --
Cons: speakers adequate but not great, 6 inches deep, with wall mount hard to change adapters...

Best LCD I've seen to date I have to echo what's already been said here; the gloss of the screen is less than you'd find on a plasma but a little more than on the matte LCD's, though the only LCD sets that I think are actually comparable to this one are the higher-end Samsung and Sony panels, and they both have glossier screens than this Toshiba.
Black levels are stunning, especially for an LCD. Hi-definition sources such as Blu-ray discs are absolutely amazing on this set, the image has that 3D feel to it and ...
