Excellent Quality & Good Value for Price Paid After looking for months, we purchased the Toshiba REGZA 42 inch LCD HDTV and could not be happier with this purchase. AWESOME TELEVISION! I just purchased this Toshiba 42 inch 1080p television and have been blown away by the picture quality both in HD and SD. Set-up was about 15 minutes from the box to turn-on. Long Awaited Purchase: Worth The Wait I have been shopping around for my HDTV since November. The biggest issues for me were price + size + reliability. I was never set on 1080p, but when the prices for the older models went back up after the super bowl, I couldn't see paying MORE or EQUAL for a 720p.

Sleek Look, Great Picture, Great Price I originally purchased the Toshiba Regza 47" LCD (model 47HL167), which was last year's model. The TV arrived physically damaged, and I didn't want to risk buying online again so I purchased this 42" LCD instead from best buy instead.
PROS - awesome picture on par with Sony/Samsung/Sharp, great price, sleek design (looks good even when it's off), great number of connections including 4 HDMI inputs.

Best picture quality we saw We looked at this set next to several others including LG and Sony and decided it had the crispest picture of all. The darks are darker, and the resolution was awesome. We bought and are really happy with it! Highly recommend it and have always been happy with Toshiba quality electronics.

Excellent HDTV Toshiba REGZA 42RV530U 42-inch 1080p LCD HDTV
I love this flat screen!
I purchased this flat screen HDTV after many months of research and contemplation. I must say that I'm a happy consumer.
The picture quality is excellent. It comes with presets that can be changed if you dont like the look. I own HD cable and PS3. The television shows both inputs beautifully no matter the resolution of the incoming signal. I highly recommend connecting all inputs with HDMI cables.

Absolutely terrible! We originally purchased this TV because of the great picture and the price was right. After three days, the monitor died. Sound would still come out, but there was no picture. We returned it to the store and, figuring it was a one-off defect, exchanged it for another of the same model. The new one lasted about three weeks before it started constantly flickering a gray screen. Again, the sound was fine. This time I exchanged it for a 40" Samsung at the same price.
My advice is to stay ...

Terrible support, reliability. We purchased this model's relative, a Regza 42HL196, in September of 2006. In June of 2008, 20 months after purchase, the set failed totally, with a diagnosis of a bad lcd controller board. Toshiba does not sell this part separately (estimate cost $200-$400), but requires a full replacement of the panel which was quoted at $2789.70. This is $600 more than the price of the television.
