Superior Camera This camcorder is phenomenal! The shots are beautiful and clear - the auto focus is very intuitive. The sound is fantastic. I love this camcorder. This takes very high grade professional videos in HD. I love that it shoots in widescreen.

Some thoughts on HDR-SR12 I ordered this camera in mid-August, then used it on a 7-day trip to Cape Cod.
I rate this unit 5 stars because of its great picture quality and general ease of use.
Specifics:
1. Images were beautifully sharp and clear, just what I'd expected from a High Definition camcorder.
2. Image stabilization worked very well.

Great camera BUT... Just took this on a three week foreign tour and it does a lot of things amazingly well. I did a lot of research and am quite knowledgeable, and was originally going to buy one of the new units that runs on flash cards because I liked their size. But they made too many compromise -- one of the worst of them being a lack of a viewfinder. Great Camera The Sony HDR-SR12 is a great camera. Going from a Hi8 analog to this new Sony is night and day. getting through all the features takes a little time to learn but worth it. Face detection is ok. It tends to adjust focus which is a little annoying the faces go in and out of focus if there are multiple people in the picture. Sound is good. Great buy for the movie editor. This camcorder is loaded with features and quality. There isnt a handheld camcorder out there that beats this one. With all that though comes difficulty hooking up to a computer. I cant use windows movie maker with this and the packaged software is less than satisfactory.
