decent camera for a decent price
I bought this to replace my old canon powershot. The canon was built tough, not sure why it started to get a purple haze across the top of the pics but it's too much $$ to repair vs. replacing it. So I bought the ex-s5 last minute before we left for vacation. The pics are nice but it gets tricky in less than optimal light. Although it has the best shot or easy mode.....it doesn't always work like it's supposed to. Indoor receptions etc.. low light, I switch to sensitive instead of the actual low...

Bought one for mom too...

Look for Something Better
I used this camera for work. I put the pictures into reports and need to have smaller picture sizes; so i use the 2M/Normal setting which gets me roughly a 120k picture per shot. I have had to purchase a different camera because this one does a terrible job in anything other than a very bright setting. The low(or moderate) light level pictures are all too dark and are almost unusable. I have found that by changing the EV setting to +1.3, it will brighten the pictures, but you need to reset this ...
