The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really four devices in one box. First, there's the dual-band Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together at up to gigabit speeds. The Router function ties it all tog ...[ More] ether and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. Linksys also included a Storage Link that lets you easily add gigabytes of storage space onto your network using readily available USB 2.0 hard drives - or plug in a USB flash disk for a convenient way to access your portable data files. The built-in Media Server streams music, video, and photos from the attached storage device to any UPnP compatible media adapter. And you can get to your files from anywhere in the world through the Internet. The Access Point built into the Router uses a dual-band version of the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios for each band, Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce dead spots in the wireless coverage area. The robust signals travel farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G, -A, and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the router can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds much faster than standard Wireless-G. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless de [Hide] |

Gave up the ghost The router was relatively easy to set up, though the interface isn't all that great. Worked well for about a month, then died. All lights are working on the unit, but nothing can connect unless it's hard wired. I've tried setting everything up again, tried a hard reset on the unit, nothing works.

| | | Good router, extra features work well Feature packed router works well! The basic functions (wireless A,G,N and a wired gigabit switch) all work as advertised. I hooked the storage link up to my TB external drive and was pleased with the results. The setup is a little confusing: The added users can't seem to log into the samba server running on the router, you have to use the admin account. The added users only seem to work for the FTP server (which also works well). No complaints, its a little pricey.

| | | NAS trouble I had the same problem as the customer from NJ. Attached the NAS and was working fine, although slow...as expected. Took the drive off and connected directly to PC via USB. The PC wouldn't recognize it and then went back to the WRT600N and it wouldn't see it either. Back at the computer file system changed to FAT32 from NTFS and I got Chinese characters for volume, etc. Be warned. But as a side note, the LinkSys Flash Drive (4GB) works fine...It was FAT32 to begin with. FYI.

| | | Most Powerful...Best Deal This router is amazing. With the dual bands you can see it when searching for a nearby wireless connection twice! You can set up certain items in your network to connect to one band and other to connect to the other band. This is an amazing router. It is super powerful, it is amazingly fast, and it is cheap for what it can do. I recommend this router to anyone who wants a fast, powerful, and safe wireless network

| | | Linksys WRT600N Router Easy install, wireless function good, lines not dropped but I don't experience the speed the router is supposed to provide. There are probably other issues w/i my PC and internet service. What rates a 5 is the service and effectiveness on the part of Buy.com. This is my forth or so order and all were filled professionally. Jim Strutt
