This is everything I expected of NAS. The installation is a breeze. The gadget is as fast as the gigabit LAN permits. And it is QUIET! Absolutely silent.

I did have a problem, though. The default admin password supplied in the installation guide was incorrect. Please note: it is not infrant1, it is netgear1. What a silly omission! However, the tech support was excellent, stayed with me on the phone throughout the entire configuration, offering advice and explanations of features.

Pros: Pretty easy to set up, even on University network

Cons: More designed for home network than large coorporate/institutional netowrk.

Other Thoughts: If I were buying this again I'd more seriously consider getting either smaller capacity (chepaer) or a bare unit with no drives, since i think i could have bou...

Pros: Virtually maintenance free. Great web UI. Comes with EMC Retrospec Professional (OEM version). Pricey, but worth the piece of mind of knowing that a dedicated box is handling the sole task. Great options for connectivity with Mac/Win/Linux. This was my replacement for two LinkSys NSLU2 NAS devices. Recommended!
