Somewhere in my house there are over ten thousand .....
For a while I thought these were somehow designed to disappear if a crossword, phone call or need presented itself in my house. So good we ask for it by name!
This is the best pencil on the market. It is so good that it is always an item we ask for specifcally while on deployments.
Reasons why this pencil is the best:
(1) Since it is constructed with REAL wood and not synthetic wood/rubber - this pencil is very easy to sharpen by hand or with an electronic sharpener. Try sharpening a rubber pencil in an electronic sharpner and it is a total waste of time.
(2) The lead does not break off very easily and can be sharpened...

Excellent pencil
Not sure why the one reviewer was having the problems. The Dixon pencils are top rated by pencil nuts (check around online). I've used their basic, no 2 with the six sided shape to the wood. This model, however, has a slightly larger body and is round. It's much easier to hold, and otherwise, same Dixon super high quality pencil.

June 27,2008 Update
If amazon allowed me to change the number of stars I originally rated this item would change my original one star rating to 4 stars. I was pleased that Dixon (the manufacturer) showed Goodwill and sent me replacement boxes of pencils. I would have given them 5 stars, but I still have problems with breaking lead. I have found that the Dixon branded pencils (by the same manufacturer) have held up much better.

Usability
I used to use a different brand of yellow pencil but found over time the eraser became hard & unusable. It would leave black marks on the paper. Not so with the Dixon Ticonderoga # 2 soft pencil. It's far & away the best around. It gets my vote & has for many years.

Ticonderoga Cedar Yellow Wood Pencils #2/HB Soft Lead DIX13882
I am very happy with these Ticonderoga Cedar Yellow Wood Pencils as they are very useful in doing puzzles where I need to erase a lot. The lead is just the right softness and when the tip is sharpened I am able to right with much accuracy. I recommend these pencils highly and if you are in need of a good puzzle pencil then the Ticonderoga Cedar Yellow Wood Pencils #2/HB Soft Lead DIX13882 are the pencils you are looking for. Thanks!

Great Pencils - Highly Recommended!
These are sturdy pencils that have strong leads and good erasers. I also like that the paint doesn't chip and flake with normal use. We use a lot of these #2 yellow pencils for our small business and with our two school aged kids, and never had any problems with the quality of these.
Recommended!
