DOES work w/ Ipod on PC's
I installed this card in 5 min. in a 3-year-old Dell running Win XP, with the single goal to connect an iPod (4th gen. 20 GB). Contrary to what another rater indicated, the iPod WAS immediately recognized using the firewire cable and continues to connects everytime just fine.

Does not work for Ipod connectivity on PC's
Bought this card to connect my dell 8100 to my ipod remixed. Installed the card in a snap without incident. Tried connecting my Ipod and it immediately started charging so I thought I was good. However, I opened itunes and nothing. Went to the iogear website thinking i needed to update the driver when I stumbled across the statement on the Tech Support Library, document #10162:
"Why won't my IPod work with the GUF320?
Both the IPod and mini-IPod require a Windows Hardware...

Forget Belkin, look no further than the GUF320
This thing was easy to intall. I have a Dual 1.25 G4 Mac. No driver installations under Panther 10.3.3. If you're pre 10.2.X on a Mac you'll have to visit Iogear's website for USB 2.0 drivers. You shouldn't have any problems using this card with a G5 given the bus supports PCI cards either. Apple should just sell this card in their stores. This is my first Iogear product, and this is the best combo firewire/usb PCI card currently on the market.

USB ports won't work with iPod
Bought this card to use with an iPod, and was greatly disappointed. My new iPod only comes with a cable to connect to USB 2.0 ports, and the USB ports on this card DO NOT WORK with iPods. I had to go buy an additional cable (iPod to Firewire) in order to get my iPod working. The Firewire ports on this card DO work with an iPod, but you'll need a Firewire cable that new iPods may not give you.

Good cheap card
For $40, you trade an open PCI slot in your desktop for 2 firewire ports and 3 USB 2.0 ports. I'm running Win XP Home; for me, the card installed without problems and runs fine. Considering today's profusion of USB devices, adding this card to my PC has been a cheap and useful device management solution.

Works like a charm
This is so much better than an external device. No extra power source to worry about and less clutter. If you're looking for extra USB and Firewire ports, this is the way to go. I only wish the firewire speed was 800 instead of 400, but at $40, who can complain? If you think you're a luddite and can't install a PCI card, I can tell you it's really easy. Not much different than plugging in your USB device, actually. Just open your computer, remove the PCI cover (one screw) and pop this one ...

Tech Level: average Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg.com Pros: Solid card that doesn't seem to need the drivers that came with it to work. Windows knew what it was right away, and everything attached to it works as expected.
Cons: Requires PCI slot, which are becoming rare these days.

Plugged, played, worked!
Plugged it in, started up, and everything worked without having to install any drivers under Windows XP.
Using the USB 2.0 ports for my scanner and digital camera, my testing showed that I can scan color documents 2x faster than before and transfer digital camera photos 5x faster than before.
I bought this particular card because it includes Firewire on the same card. I tried that out and captured live full-resolution video from my DV camcorder without any problem.
Overall a very satisfying u...
