A modest upgrade at low cost
I bought this card for my 18-month old Dell Inspiron 4000. I am running Windows 2000 Pro.
Installing the card was very easy. Just plug it in and Windows will guide you to load the driver. You need at least Win 98 Second Edition to use this product.
Works OK with all my older USB 1.1 devices. I don't have any USB 2.0 devices yet so I can't atest on the speed. I am looking forward to use it with an external CDRW soon. Their prices are quite reasonable now.

Works great with Mac OS X
I didn't see any reviews here that addressed Mac compatibility, so I thought I'd toss my hat in the ring....Prior to OS X 10.2.8, the GPU202 worked, but only at USB 1.1 speeds. Not very helpful, since I already have built-in USB 1.1 ports on my TiBook 400. I then installed the drivers for this device, and got mixed results. This card works fine. I would venture to say that almost all of the one-star ratings out there have working cards. When using this, or any other USB 2.0 cardbus you have to pay attention to the current draw of the devices you are plugging into it. High power devices require the use of the auxilliary power cable (the little circle plug in between the USB ports) to work properly. Easy Installation, works great, and cheap!
I didn't have any problem installing it in my Windows XP laptop, it was truly plug and play and didn't need any software. I can hot-swap the card or USB devices while the laptop is on without any problem. It's a great way to add USB 2.0 ports, and it costs less than other available adapters. All the negative reviews almost made me not to buy the product, but I bought it and very happy with its performance (480 mbps).

IOGEAR card not compatible with Intel based chipsets!!
If you have a Pentium chipset and you want to get USB 2.0 devices to work with this card, YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK!!...NEC USB 2.0 chipsets are incompatible with Intel based computers. I tried many different USB 2.0 products from different manufactures ( IOGEAR, D-LINK... ) and they all don't work with this card. i am buying
I am going to get this and have seen some bad reveiws and i want to stranten something out, " IT IS NOT GOING TO WORK UNLESS YOURE SYSTEM IS COMPATIBLY, so check your system compatabilty since most likely if your buying it your system is melliniem or below and it won't work with the minimum either i have a 95 and i used some new hardware on it and my 95 met the minimum combatibility but didn't, so make sure youre above the combatability."

Decent performance - but you need an adapter
This card lives up to the speed of USB 2.0 - which I use for an external CD-RW. It may be obsolete on new notebooks with all of the models containing USB 2.0 ports. In the instructions they mention that you may need an (optional) AC adapter because the laptop won't provide enough power. This was the case for me as my laptop (Dell Inspiron 5000) froze and crashed if I did a hot swap without the AC adapter. Strange enough the card worked without the adapter if I did a fresh boot with the card ...
