Toshiba 0" TV (30HF85)

30HF85
With stereo speakers located below the screen rather than on the sides, this widescreen tube TV is actually fairly narrow. This TV features Dynamic Quadruple Focus, which utilizes both horizontal and vertical beam adjustment to ensure that not only the center of the picture, but the edges and corners also have a precise beam spot resulting in a sharp, uniform picture from corner to corner. Its CrystalScan HDSC upconverts all video signals (including 480i/p) to 1080i HD, resulting in a... more

This is a great solution for my DVDs

I really like this TV. I almost gave it 5 stars. This is a great solution for getting the most out of DVD and HD input without the expense of going to LCD.

The TV has a great picture, good sound (I'm not a sound freak, so take that with a grain of salt) and lots of features. We had to play with the settings for awhile until we got the crisp picture we wanted because there are two controls which will cause some distortion on the HD input (Film/Audio and a "smoothing" setting - set...

Great price on a great HDTV

We decided on HDTV. Problem: I was replacing a 27" Sony Trinitron. I wanted at least as much screen on "standard TV" as I already had but my cabinet limited me to a maximum width of 32". Further, it's the only place in my den a TV fits. We checked around. The CRT-type HDTVs appeared more like a movie screen to my eyes. Not glaringly bright and not overly contrasty. The 30HF85 met our needs best. Going from store to store the picture on these sets varied from horrible to impressive depending on...

Great TV at a great price!

This TV is a great value and a great HD solution. One minor gripe is that it doesn't have a TV/Video button on the TV itself, and since I use another remote for everything, I have to hunt down the TV remote to change to a different video input.

As far as the gray paneling goes around the screen, I had that problem for about the first day until I set my HDTV settop appropriately. We use the Scientific Atlanta 8300 HD/DVR box through Time Warner. They don't tell you this, but if yo...

Great TV, erroneous feature analysis aside

I bought this TV earlier this afternoon for a couple of reasons: brand reliability, widescreen format, HD compatible, and the very wrong description that it has more than one HDMI input. It's a nice TV, reasonable price, but it does only have one HDMI input. I get the feeling it would be well served by a proper tuning by a pro with reference materials for color, contrast, brightness, etc. That's the case for most TV's though. Money well spent.

Great tv

Tech Level: somewhat high
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: 1080i broadcasts, and my 1080i oppo upsampling dvd player look fantastic. 480p sources look great, they can be veiwed at 540p or 1080i, I prefer 540p.

Cons: Only 1 hdmi and only 2 component inputs.

Other Thoughts: Great tv for the money, not worth it if you have no 1080i sources to watch. So plan on getting a nice upsampling dvd player and whatever hd chan...

Outstanding! At least 5 stars

I just bought one ten days ago in order to get a TV that does High Definition TV. This is an outstanding TV in every respect. Not only do the designated HD programs look 3 dimentional as real life but so do most other programs. Every blemish, wrinkle and stray hair are visible, even on non-high def programs such as news, etc. The sound is as good as my famous name wave radio and need no assistance from other equipment on music programs. I think this is the best TV I have ever seen. I would give ...

Perfect HDTV

Tech Level: somewhat high
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg

Pros: The picture quality is so clear and sharp it is somewhat unreal. I was very happy with the interface and layout of the Menus. The number of connections and the HDMI input is a very nice add-on. HDTV looks great.

Cons: I purchased a HDMI to DVI cable hoping to connect my Linux box to the TV for watching videos and DVR setup. The T...

Tech Level: high
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Inputs

Cons: The tv isn't even made by Toshiba but Orion. Halo effect on the top of the tv. Green outlines with the color red.

Other Thoughts: If you read other reviews online you'll see the problems. Research before you fork out the $$$
