Simple to use and it works
I want to be able to view and control my IP cameras installed around my home when I am away. The IP camera I have comes with a web interface for realtime viewing from a PC in the local network. This SSL VPN router allows me to connect back to the web interface of my IP camera when I am at work. The out of the box experience is good - I have no trouble in setting it up and connect to the internet with my cable modem. After I changed my default password, created a few user accounts for my family m...

RVL200 supports both IPSec and SSL VPN
I just bought a RVL200 and completed deployment. It supports both IPSec and SSL VPN, and several authentication types for SSL user management. I use the existing Active Directory Server for user management with easy configuration, and my colleagues in branch office, work at home and outside mobile sales people can access network resource and their desktop just like they are at office.
You could buy one and give it a try.

Best home router on the market!
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: VPN interface is extremely easy to use. From any windows machine out there you just https://[your IP address] and log in with a username and password that you set up for yourself. Then simply click one button, and software gets installed that dials your home router and sets up the VPN. Even the login process is encrypted, so security is great!...

Very Limited VPN and SUBNET
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week Pros: Relatively fast and easy to setup. If you're a novice to networking this is probably a very good starter unit for testing or learning.
Cons: Using the latest firmware of 1.0.14 9/04/2006 you will find two restrictions that make the product UNUSABLE for any non-degenerate case networking application.
The first and most egregious limitation is that you can only implement 1...

Great Small Business Router
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Excellent small business router. Can VLAN on each switch port to other switches like a Catalyst 2900. Can turn off each switch port. Hass ACLs like a Cisco 800/1800/2800 series.
Cons: on my XP SP2 system, log out hangs IE 7 so you have to use task manager and shut down the iexplorer thread.
Other Thoughts: This...

SSL VPN has issues with Vista - -support nonexistent
Works fine as a router, and SSL VPN client works fine with XP (note that you need admin permissions on your machine to install the virtual adaptor).
Vista is another issue. Linksys recently released new firmware 1.17 which supports Vista, and I did get it to work breifly before it started doing some weird things.
Trying to resolve with Linksys tech support, but I am not hopeful.
Note that this product falls into a special category - you need to call for support. ...

Beware using MS Exchange
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: SSL VPN is cake to setup and works great for me! Many advanced features like QOS, AD authentication for VPN, etc. If you are a beginner the default settings pretty much do everything you need so you can ignore the advanced options.
Cons: It would be nice if it was GB ports and had wireless at least optionally. BIG problem for people who...

Great router with Simple VPN
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: This was easy to configure for basic setup and specifically the SLL VPN. I purchased this because I wanted to VPN into my home with my work laptop that had the Cisco VPN client installed and I didn't want to add a the LinkSys VPN fat client due to some stating they had issues with 2 VPN clients loaded, so I opted for SSL VPN which works great! The router a...

Mac users beware
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year Pros: Easy to setup. Capable interface and performance.
Cons: Purchased this specifically for SSL VPN and it's stated support of OS X. Supports Tiger but not Leopard. The "latest" firmware is over a year old and no Leopard support. Client fails with a Java error and no response/support from Linksys.

Irritating
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year Pros: Meh.
Cons: After spending 2 weeks on the phone with Linksys I managed to get to a "level 3 tech". Must be stronger than a level 2 wizard or something. I was told that this SSL VPN product was not compatible with Vista Ultimate 64 and he was not sure when it would be. The fact that they haven't updated the firmware in a year worries me. I think it was a nice way of...
