Only for newer PS2's
I haven't used this remote, so ignore the star rating above. I am writing just to inform people that this remote only works for newer PS2's: those with an IR receiver between the power button and the eject button. (I had to find this out the hard way, ordering this product only to discover that it was incompatible with the PS2 I had; I figured I should save other people from going through the hassle I did.) False Advertisement
This is a perfect example of false advertisement. If you're like the many that i've heard of trying to order a remote for the Playstation 2, Don't order this one unless you have a newer model. The picture shows an IR unit but it doesn't come with one. So save yourself the hassle and don't order this.

Not worth buying
There's a reason that not many electronics in my home have the Sony label on them: Every time I buy Sony, I am invariably disappointed and this remote typifies the reasons.Sony did not do a very good job thinking up this unit's usability. new vs. old
Fun: simply put, this is a great product, if it doesnt work with your ps2, its because you have an "old" one. that doesnt make this a bad product. i own own(and a slim ps2) and it works just fine. better than all the reviews i've seen claim.

Hooray for a power buttons
Fun: Powering on/off the PS2 w/ a remote, how awesome. This remote is a step up from the original and is just what everyone has been asking for.

Durability: Fun: Educational: It is not a false advertisement, it is just meant for the newer models of the Playstation 2 that have a built in IR receiver, which is why it doesn't include it!

Comments: Very nice looking remote and of course it's a SONY.Will come in handy when watching dvd's in my car or in the living room.The only thing wrong is that this remote doesn't come with the transmitter(pictured in ad),only comes with batteries.My Slim PS2 didn't need the transmitter to work but it's something to keep in mind.........saludos

Be careful if you buy this on Amazon
Fun: I clicked on a buy link to Gamestop on the older DVD kit remote page, the one with the IR receiver. What did Gamespot do, they sent me the new remote without the receiver. So be careful if you decide to buy one for an older Playstation on Amazon.
