Great screen for price
We purchased the Toshiba 56" DLP 5 months ago and continue to be very happy with it. While the prices on all HD TV's continue to come down, I am glad that we bit the bullet and got this one. The picture is just great.
Big factors in our purchase decision included size of screen, resolution, component inputs and outputs, built-in HD tuner, and long-term durability. We researched models online and took several trips to the local electronics discounters to touch and feel. Samsung was a ...

Great TV
This is a great HDTV! From the truck to watchiing TV took next to no time at all. There are plenty of inputs to get everything connected, the design is very subtle (for a 56" tv), and most importantly the picture quality is amazing. I highly recommend this item to anyone considering purchasing.

NOT AS GREAT AS YOU WOULD THINK!
I JUST PURCHASED THIS TV AND I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PICTURE QUALITY. IT IS ONLY SHARP ON HD CHANNELS. REGULAR CHANNEL LOOK GRAINY AND BLURRY AND WITH AN AVERAGE OF 20 HD CHANNELS IT IS NOT WORTH IT. I AM RETURNING IT FOR THE SAMSUNG 1080 DLP. ON A POSITIVE NOTE, IT IS VERY EASY TO OPERATE AND SET UP. IF YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND THIS MUCH MONEY SPEND A LITTLE MORE ON A BETTER TV. OUR SALESMAN TOLD US WE SHOULD GO WITH A SONY OR SAMSUNG WITH DLP TECHNOLOGY, WE SHOULD HAVE LISTEN...

Great Product
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year Pros: HUGE screen; Terrific picture; Very bright image with deep blacks and overall great contrast; No burn-in worries, so I can game away worry-free
Cons: Only 720p (but there is almost no 1080p content yet - except for BlueRay and HD DVD); Lacks some of the "wow factor" a plasma has (but a plasma will cost at least 3X more for a screen this size...

Six months research=Amazing television !!!
Researched Sony,Samsung,Hitachi, and all the others. Almost drove myself crazy !
Bought this at Bestbuy for $1514 after a $100 discount for signing up with HD cable (I was already a digital customer).
Buy this TV, Pic is great and the size can't be beat. It is also priced very well.
If you want to read the long long technical reviews like I did for six months, knock yourself out !! or just bite the bullet and get this great television...YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

TV is better than you think
Obviously, the guy (K.O.) who wrote the post saying their TV had a grainy picture knows nothing about HD TVs displaying in a non-native resolution. I have this TV and I love it. There are not many TVs that deliver the value this TV will not to mention the fact that it was in the top 3 TVs rated by Consumer Reports in 2006. Guess they don't know what they are talking about, huh K.O.?
You can pay $500 more and get a Sony that is marginally better than this TV or you can spend $100 ex...

Not a happy customer
Sure this t.v. is a great price, but there is a reason for that. We got it 9 months ago and today the light bulb blew up inside so I have no picture. Toshiba is sending another light bulb but we won't get it for another week. It has been making a strange buzzing sound since we got it, which I never understood. I wish I would have gone with a 1080, the picture quality is not that great and the buzzing is really annoying. On the plus side it is a very light t.v. (weight) and the hd channels p...

Good picture, bad lamp life
The picture is very good for the price. I got this a little over a year ago for about $1200. (It can be found for much cheaper than that now) Just over the one year warranty the lamp on the unit went out. Now I have a tv that has no picture until I cough up the $250 price for a new lamp. I don't know if I am going to want to have to pay $250 every year to watch t.v. on it. This seems to be a very common complaint with Toshiba rear projection tv's.

Don't buy Toshiba DLP TV
The lamp on TV went out in 11 months and the second one went out in 13 months just before this christmas. Each LAMP costs me $250-$300. That means you may have to spend such a cost every year (if you made a wrong decision as I did to buy a Toshiba TV)! I only watch TV less than 3 hours/day. The manual's 6000-8000 hours time for the LAMP is compeletly mis-leading. Think second time when you buy a Toshiba TV and check the internet first to see real reviews. Don't trust Toshiba's manuals.
