Prodigous headroom
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Performance: Not only can you overclock the E8400 to the moon (>4.0 GHz on high end air), the Penryn core has the highest IPC of any x86 core until Intel Nehalem next year. So you get high clocks + high IPC = ridiculous raw computational horsepower.
Power use: Great power and speed is only half the story. You get all that for relat...

Great cpu, heatsink/fan difficult
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: This processor is incredibly fast and is definitely a lot of bang for your buck. Because of the 45nm technology and low voltage, people have been claiming overclocking is easy and you can overclock up to 3.8ghz even on stock coolers. But make absolutely sure you have it on correctly (i.e, all the pins are through the motherboard, I had it on 2 for a whi...

Excellent CPU
Tech Level: high Ownership: less than 1 day This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Just like the previous reviewer, I got it up to 4.2 with no issues, but 4.3 was completely unstable. Even 4.25 gave me errors. But hey, 4.2GHz out of a sub-$1k processor...that works for me.
Cons: None. Not from this processor. I refuse to complain about not getting it up to 4.3GHz, that just sounds stupid.

Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: fast, runs cool, low voltage requirement, fast, 6 meg L2 cache, overclocks like nothing i've ever seen.
Cons: some will say price, but i'm really happy with the price/performance ratio on this thing. much faster than my old E6320 and only a few bucks more. maybe i could have gotten it a little cheaper elsewhere, but Newegg got it ...

Awesome
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Great processor, huge improvement over Pentium 4 (not that I expected different). Amazingly fast, running Crysis at all high settings with a few Very High thrown in, COD4 at max settings, World in Conflict, etc. So glad I waited for these instead of the previous Conroes.
Cons: None

Amazing Processor
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Very fast processor, also very cool and runs without much power drain. Since it's 45nm, this cpu overclocks really well; I got it to 3.8Ghz with no vcore change and the stock cooler.
Cons: Somewhat expensive, but this thing performs 90% as well as the Core 2 Extreme Quads excluding multi-threaded applications. In that respect, it...

Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: less than 1 day This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: 45nm, 6MB L2 cache, SSE4, 10% improvement clock for clock over 65nm Conroe, paid less for this than my 2.4GHz E6600.
NewEgg got it at my house within 24 hours of ordering and that's with the free 3-day shipping.
Cons: NewEgg added an early adopter tax onto the price. Intel downgraded its OEM cooler pretty significantly ...

The new bang for buck power gaming processor is...
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: 3.0 Ghz stock, SSE4, 45nm process. I had this guy up to 4.0 Ghz (4005Mhz) stable w/ DDR2-1000 ram. It was running a tad hot cause i used 1.4125v, so i tuned it down to 3.6Ghz stock voltage, until the thermal compound seats in a little more. Using an Arctic Freezer Pro 7, this guy is still one of the best deals on the market for gaming. 6 MB of c...

Best Dual Core Chip
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week Pros: 45nm means less heat, and less power consumption. Runs at 3ghz stock and can overclock to over 4ghz with a better then stock air cooler. With a good motherboard and water cooling 5ghz is not out of the question.
Cons: Not all motherboards support 45nm chips. Make sure the motherboard you have does or has a BIOS update on the way before purchasing.

NewEgg- Get with it-Stop Gouging
Tech Level: high Ownership: less than 1 day Pros: Best bang for buck duallie (IF it was listed for the price it should be)MiCe
Cons: NewEgg; You guys really need to get with it, Another e-tailer (see pros) has this E8400 IN STOCK and SHIPPED anywhere in USA for Two-O-five! not "Out of stock at Two-Fifty-Nine."
Other Thoughts: NewEgg USED to be the BEST/ONLY place to shop for '...
