Hard to Find, But Well Worth It
The Canon Pixma MP530 is, indeed, hard to find in stores. Having seen it on Canon's website, I was intrigued but could never find one anywhere for a hands-on look. I had decided to go with Canon's more expensive MP850, until I stumbled upon a 530 over the weekend. I've used it now for a few days and am very pleased.

Superb Output Quality & Built Like A Tank
Being an illustration major and having never owned a printer, I recently became in desperate need of one and set out looking for the best value and quality. This is no cheap, lightweight multifunction printer
I bought this unit several months ago on sale for $150. It replaces two similar units including a HP 5505 and a Brother MFC3420c. This is more expensive than the other two, but it is well worth the difference. It is an excellent unit for home or a small office. ZDNET rates it a very respectable 7.7 out of 10. (Nothing they rate gets over an 8!) The main shortcomings are that it is not network-ready and it lacks media card slots. It does have a front port for connecting a digital camera. ...

LOVE this machine!
I've had this machine for about ten days now, long enough to test all its features and find that I'm 100% satisfied with every one of them.
- Installation was a no-brainer on both my XP and iBook
- Photos print fabulously with the sample canon glossy paper included
- Scanning is extraordinarily good! And the software which allows you to manipulate your scanned images is super useful and very easy to use.
- I scanned in my tax returns and saved them to PDF files in 10 min...

Highly Recommended!!!
I researched this printer on the web like crazy before purchasing. I almost went with the MP830, but saw too many complaints about how much ink it used, and the MP530 seemed to have better reviews on it's photo printing capabilities. Since the MP830 had extra features like card slots and a viewing monitor that I really didn't need (I edit all my photos on the computer before I print them), I went with the MP530 instead. Boy, am I glad I did. This is a heck of a lot of equipment for the money...

Canon 530- lived up to my expectations
I was torn between the HP 5610 and this model. After some research, I eventually trusted my gut feel and went with the canon. Two deciding factors were that Canon had 2 years onsite warrenty and the ink cartridges were cheaper than the HP's. Summary:
If your goal is to print pictures you can get faster/better printers. If your goal is true multifunction and cheap initial cost and low 'cost per page' -- this one is great and does pictures 'OK' too.
Pros:
* Cost per page back ink is on par with laser printer (at the time I purchased)
* Cost for the printer at Amazon was $50 off the price of anywhere else (at the time I purchased)

Excellent Printer-Better know what you want; 4 3/4 Stars
The Canon PIXMA MP530 is an excellent all-in-one office machine. The basic features of printing, faxing, scanning and copying all work extremly well and produce top quality results utilizing the on machine controls. The print quality is especially impressive (what this review will focus on) with text and graphics on par with most laser printers. Very satisfied and impressed
I have used several multifunction machines before (all with fax function). All of them were HP until my last HP died after 2 years of minimum use (printing about 30 pages a week including faxes and scaning 5 pages a month). When I was researching for a new multifunction machine, one of my top criteria was cheaper consumables.
After researching many multifunction machines with fax that range from $150 to $900, I found Canon MP530 and after using it for a month, I am very impressed....

Great print, easy set up, replaceable printhead
I have just recently purchased this printer from a local office supply store and I am thrilled with it. I printed out an 8x10 that was pure photo quality. Friends were over and they were amazed. I had an Epson that just stopped printing the black. Nothing could fix it so it was done. The canon has a replacable print head with is what could have fixed the Epson.
