Connected to a wireless network in no time.
This machine has two great features: (1) the option of automatic DUPLEX (two-sided) printing, and (2) it's a NETWORK READY printer. I had the 5250DN up and running on a wireless network in no time. I just ran a short ethernet cable from the printer to a Linksys WET54G Wireless Bridge ($75-80) which in turn picks up a signal from a Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router a few rooms away. The router dynamically assigns the printer an IP address on the network. The "BRAdmin" software on the sup...

Excellent small business network printer.
I needed a printer for my home network consisting of Linux, OS X, and Windows XP machines. I had a very difficult time trying to find a network printer that worked with all three operating systems and didn't break the bank. Several other vendors charged as much as $240 for the network "upgrade" unit to their printers! I finally purchased this printer based on reviews of older Brother models. Thus far I couldn't be happier. The printer is quiet in sleep mode and wakes up in 30-40 seconds to ...

duplexing curls paper
I ordered this printer to print double-sided reports which were 150 sheets. I used a heavier paper (24/60lb txt) but not what I would consider unusual paper for a report. The duplexer has to turn the paper so tightly that it curls it. Add the heat of the machine, the paper becomes permanently bowed. Even after weighing the paper down with heavy books, the paper flattened a bit but was wavy. This might not be noticeable on a small report, but when you stack over 100 pages, it looks like the ...

Fast clean print with poor paper handling and noise
Output is very quick. Printouts are very clean. Graphics look excellent. Noise from paper path is excessive-- I've actually returned (2) under warranty hoping that the sound of marbles it makes when moving paper through the path would go away. The 3rd printer still makes the noise - so I can assume this is hereditary to the machine. Paper path definitely wrinkles paper- but eventually it settles down. Envelope feeder is very finicky as to what envelopes you use. I've noted creases on all ...

I love this printer
Okay first let me start off by saying that I researched many different printers before I decided on this one. It finally came down to the Brother HL-5250 or the HP-1320.
I was hesitant to get the HP because so many user reviews stated how cheap and flimsy it was made. HOwever my hesitation with the Brother was due to the power surge/drain problem that I read so much about.
Now that I've had the printer for a few months I can say with confidence that this printer is the ...

Awesome printer!!
I would heartily recommend this printer to anyone looking for a reliable, good quality printer.
Pros: - Built-in duplexing at a reasonable price: this is like a dream come true for me. No more turning the page over and feeding it into the printer again! - Built-in networking: again very convenient. I connected this to my home wireless router using a regular network cable and was immediately printing from across the house using my laptop's wireless connection. - Very fas...

EXCELLENT NETWORK LASER PRINTER
The Brother HL-5250DN seems well-built and has worked flawlessly so far. Duplex printing, which I wasn't sure I would use, has become the default choice. The printer is fast and relatively quiet and the text quality is very good. The few graphic images I have printed seem fine.
It was easy to set up this printer as a network printer serving a Macintosh running OS X 10.3.4 and two PCs running Windows XP. One item that wasn't obvious is how to print in duplex mode on the Macintosh. You...

Great first home-office laser printer
I was comparing this to the HL-2070N model. The HL-2070N is much cheaper up front and slightly smaller, but after looking at the lifetime cost of the toners and the drums, they were similar, and I felt that the faster printing speed and the duplex feature were worth the additional up-front investment. If the printer lasts a long time, I will have made a pretty good choice.
I've had this printer for about a month. Barring any more technical difficulties, I really like it. I've had ...

A good inexpensive office and home printer
I needed a laser monochrome printer for work and decided to try this printer out after using its successor, the Brother HL-5240 High-Speed Desktop Office Laser Printer. I researched many printers, including the "professional" models from Ricoh/Lanier and Xerox. I have since ordered eight of the Brother 5240s and two of this model. This printer is the exact same printer as the 5240, except this one has a network port, 32 Mb of memory instead of 16, and is 2ppm slower. I have been very satisfi...
