Everthing I expected...
I have owned a few of these portable DVD players and this one is very good. Remember that all of these have very small speakers so they are really meant to be used with earphones so complaining about volume is not very valid. The sound quality and volumethrough earphones is fine. The picture quality is excellent for the screen this Toshiba has so I rate it excellent. If you want more pixels on the screen you will have to pay a lot more for a higher model. Everything functions as it should and th...

One of the best players out there
My son had basic Emprex player Friess own brand and used it for 1.5 years until it broke down. He loved it but we wanted to get better known brand and larger screen for his next player. First I bought the Sony and it is great player but the max volumeis really hard to hear if you have any background noise. Than the sales staff told me that Zenith has better volume so I tested Zenith and bought that one it had great volume and it worked well in the first day of use but it would freeze or have loa...

really good product.
I had purchased one for a trip and found it to be excellent. it plays divx which was a bonus. It even plays avi files so no need to convert any video to dvd format. the dual earphones was a nice touch. The battery life was good. 2 full movies can be accommodated on a single charge. Display is fine. Overall its a good product.

I like this machine
I bought it to take on vacation and plane rides. I watched 2 movies with no problem with low battery. The volume is a bit low. I purchased noise reducing headphones and I had no problem hearing the movies on the airplane. I definitely would reccommend thenoise reducing headphones or you may have trouble hearing movies in loud environments.

So far so good...
I went in with the intention of buying one of the sonys but was more impressed with the picture quality on the toshiba. I agree with the earlier statement about the sound quality. If you use other types of speakers good headphones or in my case computer plug in speakers the sound will be good. If you are looking for spectacular sound coming from the small built in speakers you wont ever be pleased with a portable DVD player such as this. For the price the return has been a good value. It is a tr...

Toshiba SD-P1S Portable DVD Player
This DVD player is very good but I do have trouble with the control buttons. Black on black lettering is very hard to see if you are watching a movie and want to either pause, fast forward or back up and are also a senior citizen. Other than that it has good resolution and sound and the battery has a nice longer life than other players.

Durable, but difficult to see and operate controls
This player is very durable the picture is good but it is tough to operate. The controls are all in black including the name of each control. My son cannot turn it on by himself because the power button is hard to slide. If you have great eyesight and this is not for a 3-5 year old this may work for you.

A great, durable portable
I set out looking for a portable that I could depend on when travelling. I wanted a bigger screen and quality audio visual because I really want to enjoy my movies and other DVD whether they are on the small screen or hooked-up to a bigger screen. I really feel like I found what I was looking for in this model.
In the box: Player, battery pack, remote control, power cords and adapters for home and car, special AV cables for output to a TV, owner's manual, etc.
Setup: Straig...

Nice Design, Solid and Quality DVD Player
I bought a Panasonic DVD-LS80 8.5" Portable DVD Player for my sister and didn't like it as much as this Toshiba SD-P91S 9-Inch Portable DVD Player. The size is bigger most of other portable player but this has a bigger screen, easier to watch from a distance. I liked the design, looked very nice and the quality was good, worth my money! Glad I bought it!

Don't belive other reviews critizing the sound volume on this player
Although the volume is very low when used without headphones,(and when would you ever use it without headphones anyway?) I almost went deaf when I cranked up the sound when using my crappy Ipod head phones. Great screen size and the swivel screen is an added bonus. You can turn the screen all the way around to block access to removing the disk. My 2 year old daughter loves putting in and taking out disks, so blocking her from doing this while I'm driving saves me from having to re buy the movies...
