It's been almost two weeks since I purchased this Toshiba product. I wanted to get the Sony portable since it looks "cooler" and I read good reviews about the Sony's battery life but I ended up getting this one because it was cheaper.
So far so good, better than expected indeed, it's a 7' screen so smaller than the Sony and hence more practical.
The control keys are very friendly (in contrast to the Sony), the remote is slim and very light.

Verified - Does NOT do DivX
UPDATE - I have fully verified that this model does not support DivX and have managed to return my unit after some argument with the retailer from whom I purchased this item (not Amazon - with whom returns are a breeze). The strange part is that even after being informed, this retailer (Abt), continues to advertise Divx playback for this model. If you want Divx playback - you need to get either SDP1850 or SDP1900. can not play most DVD "invalid Disk"
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This product was very picky on DVD since the first day I bought it. I did not return it since it could play a DVD that my baby daughter especially like. But after six months and just a few times use, now it just refuses to play ANY DVD, and says "invalid disk". Believe me, It would be a mistake to buy it!

Decent Player but NO Divx
I too was fooled by online retailers touting this as a divx certified player, it IS NOT, it's a decent player but does not support Divx.

Portable DVD
I bought this to play videos in the car for my 3 yr old. Worked good. At one point I had to set it at a 10 degree angle because it was making some rubbing noises and freezing the picture. Only happened once so far though.
Not bad for the price.

Does not play Div-X
Is not compatible with Div-X and it makes lots of noise when loading and it takes longer than my old one to load.

A good starter
I mostly got this little model so that I can watch videos while in transit, between classes, and at the gym. Since I'm a film student, there are a lot of movies I need to squeeze into my schedule and this seemed like a good way. So far it's been an excellent unit, very reliable and easy to use, with no problems. Does not support DIVX repeat does not support DIVX
This is the first time I've been a little disapointed with Buy.com. I ordered this as advertised "DIVX Certified"...uhm it's not. In Buy.com's minor credit most other places on the net also show this as DIVX certified. All this being said it's great little player with a good remote. It played home ripped DVD's that had problems playing on my home player. I got about 2 1/2 hours from the first charge.
