Great Picture...loud buzz.
This is a great TV that has fantastic picture quality. However, there is a moderately loud buzz that comes from the power units behind the panel. At first it didn't bother me that much. But over time it became increasingly noticeable and annoying. I called Amazon and told them that I'd like to return it. Before I could, they asked if I would have Samsung take a look at it. Best Buy
I just got the Samsung PN58B550. I've had the TV now for about 3 days and so far I am very pleased with my purchase. Blacks levels are very good. Remote and menu is fairly easy to use. There's no professional reviews out there right now only because the set was released in January of this year. As a result I was a little concerned about buying this set. I'm hoping the reviews will be favorable. How different could this unit be compared to the top rated PN58A550?

Just not as good as expected BUT
Hi well I do have some good things to say, but I don't have a lot of good things to say.....yet First let me say this is my third big screen purchase, and my second Samsung (none this big, 50 inch lcd for my father was tops). Looks Great!
At first I was a little concerned when my reds and greens were too strong. I calibrated my screen and kept the black level off, and it cleared everything up. The HD channels look incredible and the 480i analog channels look great too.
The 58" size is the perfect size for our basement, not too big or too small. I can't imagine having a tv bigger than this.
This is an awesome tv and a great value.

Previously, I had purchased a 52" Samsung LCD (the 650 model), but ended up returning that because - even though everything else rocked - fast motion on the set was unacceptably bad and SD programming looked *really* bad, so much so that I was able to make a good case for the TV being defective.

Love it!
Hands down, this is the best for your money. I spent several months and many trips to Best Buy and other electronics stores to preview different selections. I've had a lot of luck with my previous Samsung purchases (42" LCD, washer and dryer). I read the Consumer Reports review, which gave it the top review for it's category. After putting on The Dark Knight and was blown away. For the price, there is nothing better.

Buzzing noise, Loud Humm, Spoils the Viewing Experience
I recently purchased the PN58B540 which is pretty much the exact same display as this one. I heard about the buzzing noise these sets tend to make, but thought I'd give it a try. How bad could it be? I am at 4500FT elevation.
Sure enough, mine buzzes so badly I can't stand it, especially since the room it's in has a vaulted ceiling, so the buzz/humm seems to be channeled into the center of the room directly in front of the display, which consequently is the best place to view a movie ...

Samsung 58in Plasma HDTV. 1080P
Hi all.
I bought this Samsung 58in Plasma 3 weeks ago thru Amazon paid 2,000$ with free shipping, i did have problem with the shipping Co. Amazon use a private shipping company calls CEVA, they are a small timer company, they were 3 days late on schedule, when they finally came, they want me to help unload the TV and carried it in my house.
Any how, i had to do all the hook up by myself, this TV is heavy, you will need 2 people to carry it for sure, it is shinny piano black, thin line...
