Excellent TV for the Price, Awesome for Gaming

I just picked up my TH-50PX80U Saturday March 22nd after seeing a flyer showing that the TV was $1599. I got to the store and they actually had it for $1499. I had been on the fence for awhile about buying a new TV. I wanted an HD TV but my 8 year old Sony 42 Sony has been great and I was leery of the reliability of newer TVs. Long story short the added $100 off and good reviews on CNet of the Panasonics caused me to fold and pony up the money.brbrFirst the sort of bad. If you dont have a sound ...

Awesome

Just purchased this set today at CC went to buy a 42PX80 but walked out with this baby. The picture quality is very much on par with any 1080p sets from my viewing distance of 10. Watched a couple of Blu Ray movies and it was better then in the theater.Save yourself some major bucks and get this tv. I am one very happy camper.

Best Big Screen for the money!

Plasma is the best technology and Panasonic makes the best ones. Bottom line. The picture quality is superb. Plenty of plug in jacks front and rear. Lots of prgrammable options. brbrDont listen to or pay for the 1080p hype. Everyhting on TV is 720p max. and will be for the foreseeable future. And if you want Blu Ray it will still look better on your 720p than a DVD will which are 420p. Its like megapixels for the digital camera- more is not always better. It depends on lots of other stuff- the...

What I expected

I have had the 50 inch 80u now for a week. I can say it looks as crisp and sharp as it looked in the showroom. The non hd signals look better than I hoped when the screen is made smaller. The anti glare feature works as I hoped quite well as I noticelittle or no glare with 2 8 foot patio doors in the room.

Excellent Plasma

This is the 3rd plasma that I ordered from Panasonic, and this technology never let me down. I love this product! I have it hooked up to my DirecTV satellite and tested the picture quality with the regular signal and HD signal. With both signals, the pictures is crisp and clear from watching about 4 feet away from the screen and everything is the same at 8 feet away. This plasma is 720p native resolution and it is great. So unless you have a small room where you need a 1080p native resolution, t...

Great Purchase

I was initially was going to get a 42" or 46" 1080p tv, but after a couple tv returns I decided to go for the bigger set, even if it was "only" 768p (720p), and I am extremely happy I did. I watch blu-ray, hd cable, and xbox 360 and PS3 from 9 feet away and don't notice the detail difference between 1080p and 720p at my viewing distance. I was also worried about green fringing while gaming but it turns out this really isn't an issue at all (only notice it once in a blue moon, and it doesn't both...

One of the best HD tvs out there. EXCELLENT!

Forget about 1080p - it just doesn't matter for a screen this size or smaller. The set actually has a 1080p processor, but a 720p display. I saw this one next to the 1080p model running off the same feed and this set looked better. If you see this in the store, do not go by the terrible picture you see. Their feeds are horrible, and the settings on the set are set to vivid (which is totally off for colors/brightnress, etc).

Go to avsforum dot com and search for the thread on this par...

SWEEE-EE-EEET!!

Been wanting a 50 set for some time now. Had my eye on a Vizio but when I saw this set I had to have it. Outstanding picture even on SD channels. I ordered HD service thru my cable company and Oh Man what a picture! I bought mine the same day the NFL season started. Cant wait for Sundays and Mondays now!brThe sound is adequate if you dont use bass-boost. If you crank the volume there is some rumbling and vibration. I use my own surround-sound system so this isnt a problem. Movies and sportswill...

Fine performer

Best TV for the money on the market period.... It does a great job with SD and HD. It may not be a 1080p panel but it does a great job. Based on the research that I have done you can tell no difference in 720 vs. 1080p. Go and check out CNET.com for the research. I am using a Blu-Ray player for movies and it will receive 1080p and it handles it nicely. Dont worry about image retention just turn the settings down to about 50 percent for the first 6 weeks or so and you will be fine. Great b...

Love it. Love it. Love it.

How do I feel about my new Panasonic 50px80u? I know the title of this review leaves that a little ambiguous, so let me clarify... I love it. This is my first big screen (moving from an Aquos 32") and I researched the heck out of this thing before I pulled the trigger.

I looked at Samsung, Sony, Sharp, Pioneer, and Vizio before settling on Panasonic as the perfect blend of performance and price. I wanted to go 50" or above, and I needed to spend somewhere between $1,500 and $2,000. No...
