NOT a true 1080p(1920 x 1080) but awesome pic & price.
Bought it at Circuit City and configured my Onkyo SRX-604 (connected to Bose) along with the logitech eHarmoney remote.
Buy it - excellent picture.good price...enjoying it. one more thing..the good thing is pixels move every 2 mins(don't notice) to preserve the screen.
Saw it along with the HD DVD player and Onkyo SRX604 receiver(I own) - The picture quality is awesome.

May not be 'TRUE' 1080p, but GREAT picture.....
This TV looks so much better than the 720p 50" plasmas for me, it was a no brainer. Most 'true' 1080p plasmas start about $1000 more than this TV, LCD's at 50" cost 5X as much. I really can't tell a difference between this Hitachi and the 'true' 1080p plasmas, if you can, your eyes are better than mine. You can save $400 to $500 by getting a 720p 50" plasma, but you will sacrifice some in resolution. Go compare them side by side, just make sure the inputs at the store are 1080p resolution to...

Doesn't Claim to be 1080P
If you read the technical specifications, it clearly states that this television is 1080i, not 1080P. This is why we research before we buy.

Don't buy Hitachi!
My Hitachi HDTV is still broken after 4 repair attempts. Phone support flat out lies to me telling me they don't offer refund or exchange. After escalating it to her supervisor, got him to admit that exchange is an option. Now waiting for them to call me back with their decision. Not holding my breath.

Excellent TV
Purchased this TV a month ago thru best buy's website for $1,499.00 before they increased the price to $1,799.00 - should have waited and purchased thru amazon and saved some on the taxes best buy tacked on! Don't despair Amazon - I did buy the Onkyo HT-SR800 home theater system thru you :-) .

Incredible TV
For the money I could not have purchaced a better TV. This is awesome. Vivid colors, black blacks. Viewing angles much greater than the 42" Sony LCD that we moved up from.

Excellent Picture - Now More Affordable
I saw this TV on display along side a $4000.00 Pioneer. The Pioneer was better but not $3000.00 better. Prices are coming down on this model. I purchased mine for $875.00, and have seen it advertised at other B&M stores for around a grand. An excellent value.

Probably the best for the price
Just Bought this tv. Couldn't be happier with the picture quality. People complain that it's not a 1080p, however the cable and satellite providers are still ten years from tranmitting this. So a 1080i is the best picture you are going to get anyways.maybe i'll buy a 1080p when the tecnology is being used other than a hd dvd player or blu ray.
