Works as advertised
My company bought some new PCs that didn't have any serial/parallel ports (but we need these for our POS equipment). This product works well (i.e. after you install it you forget it's there because it just works, month after month). I'm writing this review because it's kind of hard to find products like this for USB-only PCs, but this Startech adapter is a winner.

Serial disappointment
Tech Level: high
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros:
Easy to install.
Cons:
Vendor represents: Serial Data Transfer Rate: Up to 920 Kbits/sec. It wouldn't go faster than 115Kbaud, under Hyperterminal, despite installation of latest drivers. Unfortunately, relies on the same MosChip MCS9835CV chip, as a SYBA Model SD-PCI-2S1P uses, with the same disappointing result.
