very good--even though not quite perfect
Fellowes makes one of the better "confetti" paper shredders in this price category. It's certainly not perfect; but I have used this paper shredder for a while now and overall I have been satisfied. In this price category this is about the best you can get.
But make no mistake about it--this machine by Fellowes shreds lots of things rather well--many less expensive models simply cannot shred credit cards or handle staples. This one can. Some people may say that a shredded CD makes a ...

Jammed a few weeks in on far less than 8 sheets
While it was working, I loved it, but my new shredder just jammed on perhaps three sheets, and though I got the paper out, shredded bits are stuck between the blades. I got some of them out with scissors and a knife (yes, I'd unplugged it first), but still...the motor's jammed, and nothing's going in or out.
Contacted Fellowes CS today; if there's a good outcome, I may up the star rating on this product.
Update 1/23: Fellowes will send out a replacement shredder. I'm happy ...

Buy a Fellowes 1st
For the $$ this is the best home use shredder. I tried store brand and they broke. This one is relatively quite and strong enough for all those credit card applications I get in the mail. Make sure you do not let the gum-backed "sample" credit cards go through though.

Very Good Purchase
I did a fair amount of research before purchasing this shredder. The child-safe finger feature was most important to me, as was the durability. After the first few uses the plastic shield inside the shredder which ostensibly guides the shredded paper into the wastecan fell off, but the functioning of the shredder doesn't seem to be affected. Aside from this minor issue, the shredder seems solidly made and has been excellent--it rarely jams and when it does it's easy to clear with the reverse ...

Great Bang for your buck
I had 7 years of documents/financial statements at home and wanted to get rid of them. This little fellow did a fine job taking care of that.
A couple of points:
- The sensor was a bit annoying. A lot of the statements are folded and with the sensor on, the machine would stop a few times until I wiggled the doc. So I turned the sensor off.
- It would get hot after a few minutes of constant shredding. The first time I used it, I think I went on 10 minutes of...

Great budget shredder!
I have had this shredder for about 6 months. I only use the shredder a few times a month, but it has worked flawlessly. It is quieter than my old shredder, which was three years old. It is relatively quick and shreds relatively easy, unless I try to shred 8-10 pages at one time, but it still works well. The sensor takes some time getting use to since I sometimes shred paper that is folded and I would touch the sensor often. Other than that, I do not have any complaints and I would highly re...

Extremely Light Duty Shredder
I purchased this shredder a couple of weeks ago. Have been using it for a week now. Its OK, but it is much more of a light duty shredder than I realized. I had read all the reviews but hadn't figured that out. I am writing this as informational only. Its rated at 8 sheets, but almost struggles with 2 sheets, 3 pretty much makes me think I will need to disasemble it. Just putting in an envelope makes the machine sound like its struggling. I just tried to shred a credit card and I was sure it was ...

Efficient Shredder, But Loud
This is my second "personal" paper shredder this week. The first was a quiet "Ativa" Office Depot purchase that did diamond-shaped cuts, which was quiet enough that I could shred junk mail while watching television or speaking on the phone. It had a wiring problem, so I returned it.
After research, I bought this shredder, which does a smaller "confetti" cut. It is significantly louder than the Ativa or the quiet sharper image machine, though it is the same general loudness as oth...

(Very) pleasantly surprised!
I haven't had much luck with low-cost shredders, but this one really surprised me. I've had it for about six months and have used it a LOT. So far, so good. As long as you don't cram too much paper in at one time... and you let it "rest" after 10 minutes of continuous use... this shredder will not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. It's easy to operate, easy to empty, and it shreds credit cards as promised. I'm a satisfied customer!

Great Shredder
I've used this shredder several times in the last couple of months. On the first use, I had a stack of at least 100 sheets of paper. I fed the unit 3 or 4 sheets at a time with no problems. With 5 sheets, I could hear the motor bog down a bit but it still did the job. At no time did I have to wait for the unit to cool down.
